Kaizen thought this may be a very short conversation if Yukarin was here for the Scorpion. "Shiba-san is quite appropriate. Soshi-san is here." Kaizen cast his gaze towards where he had last seen Bantu and noted the tension between the Houses of M. He spotted the Scorpion where he had been. To Yukarin he said, "He is over there, would you care for some company?" He did not know what was going on between Matsu and Moto, he also did not want to insult the Iuchi and imply she may want an escort through hostilish territory.

Yukarin once again looked at everthing that was happening as she looked at where the Phoenix's gaze went.

"...hai, company might be nice. Soshi-sama seems otherwise disposed, and the atmosphere in here is rather... difficult. Did you wish to sit and try to find some peace and conversation a bit perhaps?"

She would have offered to take out the shochu she had brought, but now did not seem the time.

Yucatan had arrived, which was good, but noonehad engaged Fukawa in the game of sadane she was looking for. Well you can't win them all he thought to himself as he approached the Crane.

Fukawa bowed to the returned Scorpion.


"Welcome back, Soshi-san. It is always nice to spend some more time with the host of an event." she offered pleasantly.

"Such as if a person prefers to play aggressively, defensively, with tricks. These are more easily to translate what kind of tacticians generals make, but we've noticed that there is some connection to play and personality. It's not perfect of course. And there are some people who defy expectations. But the general principle often works."

Mizuki is silent as if thinking where to put her next piece. But that's not what she was considering. "Your Clan has been gone for a very long time. But you will need to learn that the Court is a dangerous place. Often more dangerous than the battlefield. Even something like how you play Go will be scrutinized and have consequences." She places her piece and shrugs. "I'm happy being a merchant. It's much more... direct."

Akil considered his next piece carefully... and realized that he had no idea what the right play was. So he just set a stone somewhere that would be legal. "That sounds rather stressful. Being scrutinized for every little thing."

Fukawa bowed to the returned Scorpion.

"And equally pleasant to have such charming company attend one's gatherings. I am sure the children of Shinjo are glad to have the descendants of their Kami's closest sibling turn out to welcome them back to the Empire."

"Hopefully being able to meet with representatives from the Entire empire will be a good experience for them, rather than convincing them they should ride away as fast as their swift horses will go." she offers, in jest.

[Yogo Mizuki]

Akil considered his next piece carefully... and realized that he had no idea what the right play was. So he just set a stone somewhere that would be legal. "That sounds rather stressful. Being scrutinized for every little thing."

That was actually a good move. Mizuki carefully considers her next move. "I should clarify that the Court is dependent. The Winter Court will have much more scrutinization than a provincial daimyo's Court." She plays her piece.

"But yes, it can be very stressful. Though I suppose all duties have their own sources of stress. I considered beating a Yasuki to death with a shoe when he tried to underbid me." Sometimes, I regret not doing it.

Akil places his next piece rather swiftly after. "Makes sense, I do suppose," he smirked, "though beating a rival with a shoe because he does something conniving might be excessive. I believe those are what death duels are for."

[Soshi Bantu]

Fukawa nods.

"Hopefully being able to meet with representatives from the Entire empire will be a good experience for them, rather than convincing them they should ride away as fast as their swift horses will go." she offers, in jest.

"I hope so, it would be a shame for such trivial things as diet and misspoken words to undo the joyous return of a Kami's lost children. Although if this tapestry is sample of their high art, well let's just say that I've never seen so many variations of brown in a single piece."

Fukawa's eyes light up. Apparently the had decided to play with her.

"Indeed, but consider how an artist's duty is to inspire wonder. Many artists grapple with the question of how to condense events of epic size and scale into an understandable format. This artist has clearly inspired me to wonder how to do that as well." she returns.

Mizuki chuckles. "You didn't meet the man. Fortunately, Ikoma-sama realized the Yasuki was selling poor product." Mizuki's next move prove that swift play was a mistake.

He frowned as he realized he had walked into her board game trap. "I have met some gaijin like that. Most of them are now dead."

[Yogo Mizuki]

Mizuki nods in approval. "Hai. I like the sound of that. Well, in the end, I won and that was the important thing." She plays another piece. A risky move that can backfire on her.

Then, she remembers, Akil probably hasn't met a Yasuki. Maybe not even heard of them. "Of course, not all Yasuki are like that. Every Family has their baggage."

Fortunately for her, he didn't see the way to exploit it, setting the stone away from the play. "The one I met was nice enough. And he has sake, which is always a boon."

[Soshi Bantu]

Fukawa's eyes light up. Apparently the had decided to play with her.

"Indeed, but consider how an artist's duty is to inspire wonder. Many artists grapple with the question of how to condense events of epic size and scale into an understandable format. This artist has clearly inspired me to wonder how to do that as well." she returns.

"I am sure that you are not the only one inspired by his work, he likely inspired a great deal of wonder in his patron as well." Bantu countered. "Not being a prolific artist however, perhaps I am missing the subtlety here?"

"Well, perhaps his patron is actually in the work, Soshi-san." Fukawa offers looking it over. "Perhaps he told the artist, 'Make me look like a man of the people, and get my best features.'"

She points to the upper-left of the painting where one of the three riders is looking directly away, so you only see the back of his head.

"That could be him there."
