"More likely a result of their entire society being mobile." Runno rubbed her chin in thought. "We only camp as an army and thus certain controls are expected. This is a collection of well everything. Think of a city thrown up in haste instead of a military encampment."

Kogo nods intently. "That is a good way to think of it Akodo-san. Towns are often not laid out in the most organized fashion. I will endeavor to think of the alleys of tents as streets, to help guide me."

He nodded in agreement at the Akodo's word thankful for her intervention.

Noting the tension, the young Matsu sought for a change of topic. "What else do we know of the Unicorn? I know some of the history, but I wonder if some of us present might know more that might prepare us for our hosts and possible differences we see."

"Perhaps some of the customs they brought back or maybe other languages they speak or anything that is known to be offensive to them, Yurio-san. A good warrior always needs scouts to learn the lay of the land. It is good to pool our information for our shared success."

Runno sighed, she was more interested in the martial ramifications of the Unicorns' return. But the conversation seemed more toward the social aspects. "To return to one of your questions: it seems more likely they will offend us then the other way around. I'd imagine their courtiers are fairly tolerant. Who knows what bizarre gaijin customs they had to deal with outside our borders."

Takashi's eyes dart back and forth among his kinsmen as they converse. At some point he inconspicuously drew parchment and charcoal from his kimono and had started making notes. He comments: "Pooling information--and recording what we learn so that it's delivered back to our kin. It takes little imagination to guess why a scribe like me was sent here." With that, he returns to his note-taking, occasionally glancing warily at Kyra and Noburu to make sure they don't get too curious about the scratching sounds he's making.

"I hope you have plenty of parchment. Just from the first glance around here, things are very different to home, Kitsu-san."

Yurio, too, looked supportive of the effort. There was never enough information to be had about new potential foes and rivals.

"Well, the Ikoma libraries don't fill themselves," Takashi chuckles. "But I'm hoping to not fill too many pages. Our hosts may not look favorably on having too many records created so soon. I understand their historical tradition may be even more oral than our own."
