She smiles. "Its true. Sometimes, she needs a bit more direction but most of the time, a look is all that's needed. I've been using more of the auditory and hand commands since we came to the miai because it seems more people are comfortable with those and seeing us work together in that way. But when we are not in company, there is very little need for them."

"Years." he nodded. "Since before my gempuku. What about you two?"

She nods. "About 5 years now. Sometime before my gempukku." She pauses. "It is an intense ordeal for the Matsu. Some do not survive it."

She laughs. "Me too. It would be difficult for me to be standing here otherwise." She looks around. "Do the Shinjo have an extensive gempukku?"

"We proclaimed our desire to join the clan and we participated in a great hunt." he explained. "All the game in the area were herded and confined to one location. We were alotted a single arrow and were expected to return with our prey."

She nods. "I could imagine. Having tried archery only this past week, it is a skill I think of value, but I could not imagine catching prey with one shot."

"Well, there was always the option to catch something by hand." he joked. "Fortunately, I didn't need to take that option."
