Waking up and looking back a few pages.. For those wanting tabletop play but groups too large and scheduling too difficult, have you considered doing West Marches style play?

tl;dr version: No set plot, no set game time, no set party. Nothing ever happened in town, but players start out with a few hooks and organize their own parties to go out adventuring, scheduling a time for that specific session...
Edit: Thinking further, you could even set up a forum like this for the town planning and info sharing parts, as well as keeping track of IC time passage (Okay, those four spent two weeks on their latest adventure, what's everyone else doing during that time?), then have the adventure parts themselves handled in Roll20 or in person or whatever.
