I think maho is technically all non-elemental magic, but practically refers to blood magic. The Kuni really only concern themselves with the former, but the Inquisitors deal with it all.... and I think the Jade Champion falls wherever

I appreciate the sentiment, but perhaps the newly returned clan that has enslaved kami and trapped them in tiny medallions should attempt to distance themselves from bloodspeakers entirely.

Actually our medallions are tad more heretical than that. They use gaijin words of creation to directly influence elements bypassing the kami. >.>

This isn't the meishodo I'm familiar with. Not saying you're wrong, just not what I'm used to.

It's in the 2nd edition books, so might have been retconned. Basically meishodo translates as 'name magic' we each trinket bearing a 'name' or a 'word of power' uttered during moment of The Creation. Unicorn stole this way of doing magic from the City of Sorcerers. Rokugani magic beseeches kami / fortunes to affect the elements, meanwhile the gaijin magics.. skips this part. Getting Unicorn involved with meishodo was actually a Kolat plot in 2e... distancing them further from the kami / spirits.

I doubt that the Jade Champion will make a big deal about It, given that he's technically using maho as well (I.e. gaijin magic).

Because technically speaking at this point in time the definition of Maho is *super* vague. I believe there's a write-up in one of the supplement books about an Isawa using air kami to delight children and he gets brought up on charges of maho and almost executed.

Yeah, I remember that. Not where it is, but yes. The Isawa had a political enemy, and the technical definition of maho at the time was something like, "Magic used for personal gain" or something like that. Trying to define maho as evil magics, without getting into the whole unseemly topic of blood.

I doubt it, as the mechanics state pretty specifically that it deals only in blood magic.

This is just Rokugani legal technicality.
