Inventory Check (Day 2, EE, Expecting)

[Soshi Taira]

"We are glad to have you."

He sighed, glancing at his supplies.

"It may take a lifetime, but the tales your kin have to tell will certainly reach all corners of the empire. One hopes that you will find your new home worth the trip."

[Shinjo Liu Yue]

"I hope to hear the stories of Rokugan," she said with a big smile. "Ah. Taira-dono, the Unicorn are proponents of oral tradition." She fiddled with the cup in her hand for a brief moment. "Do you have any to tell me?" she asked, again deciding to be direct.

[Soshi Taira]

Taira looked surprised. "I.. I could try. I'm not much of a storyteller, myself... but I can certainly relay them, as best I can."

He scratched the bridge of his nose.

"Did you have any you wanted to hear? Folk tales? History? Something like that?"

[Shinjo Liu Yue]

Yue blinked. She did not think anyone would have a problem with telling a story. "You do not have to, Taira-dono." She lifted her cup to her lips and then realized it was empty.

[Soshi Taira]

Seeing that, he hefted the stone bottle, offering a refill.

"I don't mind attempting it... I just hope I don't bore you."

He knew he had a tendency to lapse... verbose.

[Shinjo Liu Yue]

The Shinjo nodded and held out her cup for a refill. She was sure that her constitution could handle the liquor. "Arigatou gozaimasu."

She gave Taira a gentle smile. "Iie! I am sure that you will tell a good story, Taira-dono! You have read a lot. You have lived for," she trailed off, unsure of how old he actually was. "I want to hear more about Rokugan," she concluded.

Taira smirked, pouring another serving into her cup.

"Nineteen years."

Then he set the bottle down, allowing the thump to accentuate the statement. He was old.

"What sort of story would you like?"

[Shinjo Liu Yue]

What would he say if I told him I was merely fifteen?

Yue let out an inquisitive 'hm' as she sipped her share of sake. She glanced at his medical bag and then mentally shook her head. She did not want to ask about treatments. Family also seemed like a bad idea.

She savored the sake in her mouth and then knew the answer. "Do you have any tales involving sake consumption, Taira-dono." She was unable to contain a laugh before he even responded.

[Soshi Taira]

Taira hid a smile behind his cup, and then replied, "Hai, there are many."

Raising an eyebrow, he added, "Most are cautionary, some comedic. It depends how much the spirit realms are involved."

[Shinjo Liu Yue]

Yue nodded enthusiastically. "I wish to hear a comedic one, Taira-dono. I enjoy the lifted spirits." She was also sure that this would be a simple enough story to tell, on his part, and for her to understand.
