I mentioned it before but another version of this concept was a Shosuro woman who kept a dummy arm in a sling. It was meant to keep people guessing if she was actually missing the arm or not. It was also meant to fool people into thinking she was insecure about her missing arm xD

But yes, Yue's application of makeup is actually her putting on the appearance of being heavily burnt
