Yeah with the original Sith thousands of years ago, the Massassi were the warrior caste and pretty much the muscle of their military might.

Then as that Empire fell, as these empires tend to do, the castes were kind of scattered and the Massassi kind of holed up on Yavin IV... the other Sith interbred with the Dark Jedi that came to Korriban, creating the Sith race we know in this time-period (original Sith had three-fingers and looked even more bestial)... so in a way, Massassi are closer to original Sith than the current Sith-race is.

Lord Haydriss, born Haydriss Rolm, is a Sith Lord under the command of Darth Malgus. The two get along on many matters, including a distaste for Imperial infighting, something that had slain her previous master. It is for this reason she has decided to leave behind her family name and stay away from politics.

Many have concluded that she will not reach any grand achievements in her lifetime. She has shown on numerous occasions that she will not take opportunities to elevate her position or seize more power. Some may see this as genuine complacency, others may see this as a ploy.

I was looking back at Korriban so I could write up a background, and saw we're 3,000+ years before the Battle of Yavin? That raises a ton of questions for me. Is all the technology really current? What Empire and Republic are we talking about?

I looked up a well sourced timeline, and there's not much for that far back (practically nothing at all), so are we just going off the timeline from Korriban and playing around loosely with the rest?

The official canon timeline will have nothing back in this time period as Knights is part of Legends.

Right, I was about to say I think you're looking at Disney Canon. This takes place a little before the SWTOR game, the Great Galactic War.

Are you familiar with SW:TOR? I think this game is set in the time leading up to that. Korriban was 3656BBY, SW:TOR starts 3641BBY.

There's a bunch of links to stuff here. The main thing is, the Sith Empire re-established itself about 3681BBY. From there, the timeline on Korriban here looks pretty good.

It's a bit spotty. SW:TOR is kind of in a leeway xD. Last I checked, Disney Canon is only the main movies, Rogue One, Clone Wars, and Rebels TV shows.
