Has the Sith Empire encountered the Massassi prior to the events of Korriban, and if so then how widespread are they currently being used in the Empire's military and ground forces? Wookiepedia left me with the impression that most of the Sith Empire's ground forces were Massassi warriors along with greater beasts that would carry heavy weapons and other less than portable equipment.

You may be thinking of another Sith Empire. There are many, after all xD. It's kind of a resurgence of them.

This Sith Empire relies on its Imperial War Machine comprised of its people and led by the Sith!
