[D8, EA] I Have No Idea What I Am Doing

"A bit of respite would be nice, if nothing else," he nodded as the dog ran under his kimono.

[Miya Mei]

Mei looks around and spots a large barrel that would normally store feed, currently empty.

"Here. Why don't you play in here."

She sets the puppy down inside it and he rolls around on his back.

[Shinjo Akil]

"Perhaps that is a good idea," he nodded, stepping back and revealing a dog on it's back, staring excitedly at him. He picked the dog up and placed it in the barrel. "There. That should buy us ten minutes of peace at least."

[Miya Mei]

Immediately Mei's puppy ambushes Akil's.

"Indeed."

She lets out a long breath.

"I much prefer horses, truth be told. They are a lot easier to train than dogs."

[Shinjo Akil]

"Believe me, I know," he smiled a bit, "Setem is far more pliable than Kimi is."

[Miya Mei]

She nods.

"I am very happy the Unicorn see the value of a horse. The rest of the Empire is not quite sure what to make of them yet. I was blessed being born a Miya, as horses have been in our family since the begging. "

[Shinjo Akil]

"They are very useful for travel," he nodded, "and allow us to be maneuverable on the field." Not that I'll be seeing that again.

[Miya Mei]

"I understand the Unicorn also fight primarily from horseback? That is a skill none in the Empire truly study."

[Shinjo Akil]

"It's a bit more complicated than that," he nodded, "but that is part of our tactics. Not everyone can fully commit to cavalry maneuvers, after all."

[Miya Mei]

"I'm certain. I don't know much about warfare on that scale. My studies have always been in the art of the draw. So what of you? Did you train as a horseback fighter or a foot fighter?"

[Shinjo Akil]

"I am... was part of our cavalry," he offered.

[Miya Mei]

"I see. And now?"

[Shinjo Akil]

"I don't know," he shrugged, "Not a soldier anymore, for certain. Assuming nothing dramatically changes, it seems I am likely to start studying in Tsuma."

[Miya Mei]

"That is quite the shift of responsibilities. Do you think homemaking will sate the desire that soldiering filled? Or would you still have desires homemaking wont fill?"

[Shinjo Akil]

"Hard to say," he shrugged, "my hope is that I'll be able to serve with my flute in the courts."
