"So what do you want me to do Iushi sama?" The Moshi asked anticipating looking for a scroll.

"Moshi-san ought to commune with the spirits of fire. Ask them if they felt the disturbance... and if they take offense in it. Not yet though, I will first has to disturb the elements." Figuring that this moment was good as any, Dong-Ha dug out a dark grey stone wrapped in thin copper wire and spoke a word "Yammana."

For a briefest of moments, the budding flames flickered as if an imaginary wind had swept on the brazier. Meanwhile, the charm that Dong-Ha held in his hands glowed in soft orange light, illuminating his palm. Almost as soon as the stone had lit up, the light was gone.

Looking up from the amulet, Dong-Ha regarded the Moshi diviner. "If you would be so kind?"

Nonin offers Asakiko a stick of incense and a twist of paper as offerings to the fire kami. "The Iuchi magic uses words of power to bind the elements into objects. We are trying to discover what the elemental kami think of that, if anything at all."

She takes the incense and reads reads the scroll to commune to the fire kami. The incense light up as the offering is accepted by the Kami.

The incense crackles as the embers at its end ponder the question. Ultimately, however, there is no response... most likely a sign of the fire kami no understanding the question.

[Iuchi Saksaha]

Saksaha, obviously, has no idea how or even whether the kami have responded. But, a little tentatively, she suggests, "Maybe, you could ask how it feels to them when Dong-Ha-san makes his magic? If it is different to them from your magic?"

The Moshi nodded. Are you affected in anyway when the trinket was used? She tried to reformulate the question unbhopes that it would be more appropriate for the element.

The fire kami crackles a resounding "No."

The Moshi nodded with a smile on her face, as she got a good answer from the Kami and wondered what to ask next.

[Isawa Nonin]

"What have you learned, Moshi-san?" asked Nonin, trying to keep the curiosity from his voice.

"The kami are unaffected when Iuchi san uses his meishodo." She smiled. "What other questions do you wish to ask the kami?"

[Isawa Nonin]

"That is a great relief," says Nonin. "Could they hear the word at all?"

[Moshi Asakiko]

Asakiko nodded and looked at the flame. Did you hear his word of activation? She motioned the incense toward Iuchi Dong-Ha.

[Mindshred]

The fire crackles, burning its way down the incense. It seems to confirm that it heard the words that were spoken in the area.

Meanwhile, Dong-Ha waited for results with a baited breath, though he had grinned when Asakiko had admitted that the kami had been unaffected bu meishodo. He had trusted the old stories and his own intuition about the matter and he had been right. That felt so damn good.
