Where you are [Kogo's Yurt, D6, EM]

[Matsu Kogo]

Kogo wakes up slightly blearily after the alcohol of the night before. Thankfully, it was not too much more than she was used to. The shochu was probably a little much. Ahh well. She washes her face and does some basic cleaning of the yurt and herself. She dresses in her kimono and applies her makeup, accenting her eyes and lips and drawing a thin red line across her face and the bridge of her nose. She keeps the fan at her side, but does not open it and opens the flap to her tent, to invite in the breeze and let Noburu out. Noburu seeks a dry patch of ground in vain and ends up curling up on the front of the flap, in front of the entrance. Kogo snickers. "You will have to move when he arrives. You look like a rug." Noburu growls faintly and feints a swat and Kogo moves back easily. "Not today cat a cat. Its fancy dress today."

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

Monkhbaatar arrives and sees the big cat laying by the entrance. He approaches slowly and kneels down at arms length, putting his hand out gently to be sniffed. "Good morning Noboru."

[Matsu Kogo]

Noburu sniffs him gently and gets up, sniffing him a little further and prowling around. Kogo's voice from inside the Yurt calls out. "Noburu, let him in, for Kami's sake." Noburu swishes her tail and moves to the side, with a slightly warning look. Kogo steps to the door. "Welcome Shinjo-san. Have you had rice today?"

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"I had bread... er, oh, yeah..." he says rising and bowing to her, smiling a bit nervously at that. "Standard greeting. I forget that sometimes. So used to a handshake. And I was just saying hello to Noboru."

"I hope your morning is as lovely as mine just became now that you entered it," he says giving her a wink.

Her face tinges a bit at the ears, but less than it had been she first began spending time with this Shinjo. "I think one of your kinsman offered me a handshake, as you say, the other day. I was unsure of how it was accomplished." She smiles at him. "Ignore her antics. She is feeling protective of me today. I think she does not like when I dress up."

Though more likely, the last visitor to my yurt did not go so well. No one ever said Noburu was stupid.

"Daring as always Shinjo-san. Will you sit? I took the liberty of ordering some tea from the servants. You are welcome to a cup if you wish."

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"That would be nice," he says with a nod, entering the yurt to have a seat. Starting up the conversation with something more obvious, "Your makeup is striking. Is there a specific meaning behind the red line? Or do you simply wear it because it looks good on you?"

She ducks her head for a moment, fussing with the tea. "Some of the women on my mother's side wear a thicker version of this mark for war paint. Though I do not wear a great deal of makeup, like some Rokugani women, I find this a fitting homage to my clan, as well as a way of making it clear that even when wearing kimono, I am a bushi and a Matsu first." She smiles at him. "I suspect one day I will become more used to your flattery, but still, it occasionally surprises me."

"I hope you don't get too used to it," he replies with a smile. "So that's a standard warpaint for your family? The Moto use war paint a lot. It's not something I've ever really done myself."

[Matsu Kogo]

She shrugs. "Some of my family do, some do not. It is not a requirement. The Beastmasters seem more inclined than most. Some have elaborate paints to make them resemble their prides. They are quite fearsome." She smiles at him. "I suspect you do not have to worry about that occurring soon. I would not wish to deny you something that so obviously pleases you."

He nods at that, happy that his flattery was being well accepted. "Some of the Shinjo that act as scouts do wear paints to blend in with the terrain. It's something I'll likely take up in the future as I improve my skills. For now though, I'd probably stick out like a sore thumb if I tried to go unnoticed scouting near enemies and no amount of paint would help."

[Matsu Kogo]

She laughs. " Yes, you are quite striking as you are now. Purple is perhaps not the best color for blending in." She looks at him with a slightly daring smile. "But it does suit you."

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"I'm glad you like it," he says with a nod. "Though depending on how things turn out I may end up in a different color in the future. I wonder what I'd look like in gold?"

[Matsu Kogo]

She keeps her breath calm, but at an effort. "I suspect...stunning. The gold would highlight your hair and give it a shine. " She looks at him directly. "Do you think you could be happy with such a change...in wardrobe?"

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"I think that if things turned out that way I'd be perfectly pleased. There are no guarantees, and we still have some days to go before that is all settled. But it's another adventure I'd welcome."

[Matsu Kogo]

She relaxes a tinch. "That is true." She sips her tea. "So what are your plans for the day, besides speaking with me?"
