[Moto Butaj]

Raw and intense it is, for he cannot do much subtle and gentle in inebriation. Smacked, he catches her, pulls in, locks her in a firm wrestler's embrace and throws on the furs. But even if the alcohol can be blamed for the wild urge and feral spirit, one deep unacknowledged reason is her acceptance of him. Bataar reminded him how it could be and yet it is not with her and the difference is as wide for him as the world itself. She teases and scolds, sure, but in the end she takes him the way he is, even now, unbridled and unrefined. Is it why he has followed her tonight? Maybe a little. But in the end what he has wanted is to make sure that after a day like this, of loss and angst, when her mind and feelings are like wildfire on the dry steppe, it is this and not something else.

[Iuchi Dong-Ha]

"Hee, going to a ride with her then?" Dong-Ha scratched his back. "Ought to sleep at some point though, I am supposed to meet Bunny tomorrow. Trade stories."

He nodded. "Yeah, sleep's probably a good idea. The morning is going to be difficult."

"I'll manage." he reached for a particular trinket, carved from limestone that hung from his sash. Touching the charm, Dong-Ha muttered a single word... and suddenly his eyes brightened.

"Convenient things, these. No hangovers." he stood up, stretching. "But that doesn't mean I shouldn't sleep."

"Good night, cousin."

"Good night, Iuchi-sama." he yawned and stretched. "Good luck."

Kemuri glanced around the yurt. Akil and al-Kalb must have left at some point, unless they had passed out somewhere.

That sounded good.

With thoughts of the women discussed tonight, the Marta driffted into sleep.

/back to Khulun's tent

Butaj awakens sharply for whatever reason, finding Khulun staring at him. A moment later he realises: when dreaming, he has pulled the biggest fur just over himself, leaving her bared! Such shame. He quickly makes amends by smiling apologetically, kissing the tip of her nose and returning the whole of it to her, tucking her neatly to the very nose, the way she likes. But now it is him who is bare. A pinch of cold where he doesn't like cold makes him look around for his pants. And there he remembers, reaching to their pocket first.

"Khulun, don't fall back asleep just yet."

[Moto Khulun]

Khulun growls and then yawns and says, "Fine... fine, what is it?"

[Moto Butaj]

"Butaj has something for you. Something nice for a proud woman to have."

He pulls out traditional Moto headpieces that could serve as either earrings or garlands from a headband or even a headpin. Silven and turquoise. He stretches them on the white fur before her nose so that she could see them in the dim light of embers in the hearth.

[Moto Khulun]

She looks at them and then blinks... she rubs her eyes and looks again before saying, "What... you got this for me?"

[Moto Butaj]

"Butaj had them for a bride that would join him among the Unicorn. But this is not going to happen, and Butaj thinks Khulun is as much of a Moto bride as Butaj will ever have. This is of our people and should remain so, with the blood of our people. And Butaj thinks it will look good on you. Is convinced. It will." He leans in to kiss her in the ear and sniff her hair. "All know Khulun as a fearless leader and a great warrior, but Butaj also knows you as a woman proud of her graces. And so it falls to Butaj to make sure that part of Khulun is appreciated, at least until Khulun gets himself a husband who will remember to do so."

[Moto Khulun]

Khulun softens her confused glare to a smile and says, "You are too kind, Sayyed Butaj."

She accepts the gift and sighs, this was something she was trying to avoid especially with everything happening but it seems that the Gods had better ideas. Khulun says, "Butaj is good man, bastard he may be, he is good man. Strong man, clever man, and handsome too, even without beard. All who meet him see such greatness, some welcome it and others are threatened by it."

"I know you will do good work, even if you are lazy Butaj," she jokes. "You are husband I would want at my side, if such were so, but it is not meant to be."

[Moto Butaj]

"It is not meant to be." He sighs, agreeing. "It would have been if we had not returned to this land that we have never been in before. Butaj would have been happy with you. But perhaps this is the point, Sayyeda Khulun. We know how to love what we've known. We must learn to love what we haven't known." He sits by her feet and find one under the furs to massage it. "Butaj is never lazy for fight, love, music and stories." He smirks. "And will serve the Unicorn with that he is not lazy with. Phoenix, Dragon or Scorpion, Butaj will carry our culture and our ways to them so that our brethren who join the eastern Clans later can be more at home, better treated and respected. Butaj has thought about this and this is the best way. But wherever Butaj will go and whatever colors he will wear, he will not forget Sayyeda Khulun."

[Moto Khulun]

"Here now... in this moment I believe it. This land is strange but good, it seems we must lose much, our friends and those close to us. I don't know why but it is as you, t is as it must be," she says enjoying his touch.

"I admit I will not be happy to see you go, perhaps we leave tonight together and never return."

[Moto Butaj]

"Butaj thought about this too, Sayyeda. But too much faith would be broken. With the Shinjo, to who our people swore blood oath. To our people here he look up to you and who cheer how Butaj has made a name for himself among the easterners. And to those who we want to ally with, who we have made pledges to. It itches Butaj that he may not be free in any way he likes, but if we don't find a way to remain the children of the open sky in this land, who will?" Butaj looks at Khulun intently.

[Moto Khulun]

"It is as you say, I could never run from my duties even if it seems the easy path," she says in response.
