The story may stop Yue.
Butaj thinks a little about a heroic story he can make up right off the bat. He's honest and truthful, but legends are legends, and Chi-Pu earned a place as one.
"There was a time when Chi-pu was just a girl when drought came, and horses had not enough water. But Chi-pu knew stories from travellers that there is a brook across the desert pan, right at the foot of a mountain. And she rode out on Tianma to find the brook for the herd, this was how brave she was, even being young!
But as she rode across the trecherous sand and cutting rock in scorching rage of Shilah... the Sun her vision blurred from heat and she lost focus and then, out of nowhere, a large cobra appeared! So large than none in the camp had ever seen such a great cobra. And you should know cobras are terrifying snakes, very venomous and fast as an arrow shot from dai-kyu! One bite and life is gone, even for such a great steed like Tianma! And Chi-pu knew the danger very well, but was not afraid at all! She made Tianma stand still and stared at the cobra, trying to stare it down, it sometimes works. But this was no ordinary cobra, maybe it was even a timeless cobra that had once been a pet of one of Evil Sorcerers of Laramun, vicious to the last scale, clever and vile! And the great cobra swayed and swung, ready to attack any moment!
But then, Chi-pu showed her who is faster than lightning! She sprung out on Tianma before the cobra new it, but instead of riding away she started circling the giant snake at full gallop! And the snake twisted and turned and leapt and whirled but was always one pace behind Chi-pu and Tianma! The maiden and her mare rode so fast that a small sirocco formed around the snake, a column of dust and wind, and the cobra saw nothing, was hazed and dazed, but still deadly! Chi-pu hoped that its neck would snap from all the whirling, but it was not the case. But let Butaj remind you that she was yet a girl, no swords at her hip, this is how brave she was! And so she leapt into the sirocco from the back of Tianma at full speed, to catch the cobra in the iron grip and snap the neck herself! This is the daring hard to imagine but did she not do the same with the giant wyrm? This is how she was even when she was this small!
And so mortal combat began! The snake was strong and lashed and wreathed to get a chance to bite Chi-pu just once, just scratch her with venomous fang, but she was like sirocco herself, like Lady Shinjo herself, never where she stood, but a length further. But she was without water and the heat was merciless, all was against her, but she didn't give up! In the final daring moment she tossed the snake out. The cobra was about to lash back but this is when Tianma's hoof fell on its head, smashing it into a leaf against a rock, flat just like the cobra's collar! Chi-pu and Tianma always fought together, and against great cobra it was no different!
And so, Chi-pu felled the great cobra, and found the brook and the herd was saved. And from the skin of the great cobra many a hilt for katanas and wakizashis were made and they never got slippery. Such was the bravery, the strength, the selflessness and the reliability of Chi-pu. It will never be forgotten."
Butaj smiles. His booming voice has carried the story far and wide.
"And to that we drink."
