OTAKU EVENT: Poetry (D5, Late Afternoon)

They seem to smile too much to all those competitors. I have to come up with something even more amazing and impress the judges.

Kitakuhime starts to write down a few poem ideas here and there, but nothing really good comes to mind. Sighing heavily, she glances over the judges once more, noting that all of them are indeed Otaku samurai. Lower ranked Otaku samurai.

She smiles deviously and her ego starts to paint the characters over the fan meticulously. Once satisfied, she walks toward the judges, and simply flashes it open, showing...

帰宅

The two characters of her name: Kitaku (Return Home). She politely bows, and leaves, noticing several unpleasant frowns.

Takeo had no ear for poetry and no patience for calligraphy. His efforts were sincere, but ultimately fruitless, though he did manage to at least passably present himself to the Otaku judges. Perhaps they would appreciate his ability to excel in the moderately martial portion of the event?

Saksaha manages to think up a passable poem on the theme of rolling plains under moonlight. But her excitement at this highly unlikely creative success gets the better of her, and she ends up twitching her hand at a critical moment and scattering inkblots all over the delicate grass script. Maybe the judges will believe they're, like, flowers or something? A bold artistic choice? Quick, distract them with a funky dance! Alas, the young shamaness's dancing is as awkward and wooden as anyone who knows her would expect.

Poetry? Really?

Taichi was a little saddened that the mighty Otaku would choose something like this. I mean sure they were honourable individuals interested in art and looking good, but he'd been hoping for something more... horse related.

Still, he would participate. It was his Duty after all. After some deep thought about the content of the poem, he settled on himself. After all, it was always best to write what you know, wasn't it? Once that was settled, the words flowed naturally

Roses are red
Violets are blue
The sun shines so brightly
Because I'm next to you.

Award winning stuff, he was sure. Putting in on to a fan was no trouble for him. Going for bold yellows against black writing with a strong sun motif on the largest fan he could find, the message was clear. Here was a poem to inspire.

The dance though... was underwhelming. Having never really danced before, he did his best to improvise some moves from his military training, but it seemed that the ladies were unimpressed.

The Lion's performance in the event was for a lack of a better word unmemorable. He didn't distinguish himself neither on the positive nor on the negative.

It seems like the word that better describes the Matsu is average.
