[Moto Khulun]

“You are horse talker?” she asks, not even sure what is.

[Matsu Yurio]

Yurio stared up at the nearest horse.

Misa shook her head. "No no. My family are shugenja, and I have heard the air kami can help someone speak with animals. I wonder what the strong, proud horses of the Unicorn could say of your people, that's all."

[Moto Khulun]

“You use magic of the charms or whatever mystical shit the Iuchi do?” she says amazed.

[Matsu Yurio]

"No they talk to the kami."

Yurio took a step closer to the horse, which looked back at him all . . . . . horselike.

“What is ka-mi? Why do they talk to them? That is not how magic works, it is known. Iuchi use charms, some act like sorcerers of the desert and make pacts with jinn, I think?” she says with a shrug.

“I am no sorcerer, I know not.”

[Matsu Yurio]

"The elemental kami exist around us and in everything. They are the spirits that the shugenja talk to and persuade to act. There are no charms for the priests, they intone the words and the kami obey."

He reached a hand up towards the horse, which continued to look back at the small blonde.

"They do not exist where we have been, it is known," she says.

[Matsu Yurio]

Now that got his attention away from the horse.

"What? But kami are everywhere! How could anything exist without kami?"

"The world is not dead, it lives and we see nothing of ka-mi," she replies honestly.

"Perhaps ka-mi not so strong."

The clash of mystical knowledge from those with no mystical knowledge at all . . . reached an impasse.

"How . . . I have been taught that everything that exists has a kami associated with it. Perhaps your priests have just lost the ability to hear them?"

"Perhaps you don't know everything, Lion," she replies.

"That . . . I have never claimed, but I know what I was taught and why we venerate the spirits of the land."

“I know only what I have experienced, and I do not know magic but we have never spoken of spirits called ka-mi,” she says.

“Perhaps we shall have these shu-genja to speak with the ka-mi in time?”

"Well the priests here to be married, like the Phoenix and the Seppun. They have the ability. They will pass it on to their children."
