"Oh my, you're requesting more puns?" she said with raised eyebrows and a surprised smile. "Usually puns are met with groaning and rolling of eyes."

"But I could spear you the details of that."

"And why should I knot? An excellent line of puns can unravel any sour mood. Really rope someone into a fun time," he returns.

Tomoe covered her mouth as she stifled her laughter.

"Really? Well, I can always axe how you would do such a thing? Because I have many more cutting remarks!"

Smiling widely, he gives his response. "I'd sea any cutting remarks coming... I'm shore. Then you'd have to wave goodbye when I was leaving to avoid them."

"Agh... too much," she broke into a laugh. "Oh goodness... you're good at this."

"It's fun," he says with a laugh of his own. "Life is better when you can enjoy the lighter moments."

"With good humour like that, you're boundaries to make someone happy someday," she dabbed at the corners of her eyes, removing tears that had formed from the laughing.

He finishes off his latest cup and refills it, offering a refill for Tomoe. "I truly hope that I can make someone happy. Whoever I end up with... every moment that doesn't belong to my clan will belong to them." He looks her in the eyes. "I can thing of no better way to spend my life."

Not remembering how much she had had by now, she politely declined the refill. "I wouldn't want to have too much to drink and cause you any problems."

She looked away a little before meeting his gaze.

"I promise you won't cause me any problems," he says with chuckle. "What's the worst that happens? You have enough to drink that I have to carry you back to your yurt? That wouldn't hurt my feelings in the slightest."

[Usagi Tomoe]

"I would prefer to avoid that..." she blushed.

"... Can I tell you a secret? Well, not as much a secret as it's something I don't like to talk about..."

"Of course. You can trust me not to say anything. I'm not the gossip type," he says with a nod.

[Usagi Tomoe]

She nodded. He seemed like a trustworthy type.

"I... have a medical condition. One that sometimes causes me to lose consciousness and my joints lock up as I suffer spasms. It... doesn't happen often, as I take strict care with avoiding situations I know can trigger these... attacks. But I wouldn't want it to happen here, causing panic and difficulty for you."

She seemed ashamed to speak of it, but she had a feeling that her condition was probably the reason the matchmakers considered her so unsuited.

"Now that I know, I won't be panicked. And I can assure you I wouldn't consider it a difficulty in the slightest. I'd be glad to help you if such happened. I can't imagine it's easy living with that weighing on you. But I think you'll find that such things don't bother me. Part of who I am, thanks to my mother's influence, is to care for people a great deal," he says, placing a hand on her shoulder, trying to be comforting.

"Know that what I feel knowing this isn't pity or sadness. As I always have and always will I only have care and concern for my friends. It may limit what you think you can do, but if you ever feel concerned that taking part in something may trigger this problem, you need only ask and I'll stand by your side to help you in that situation if the need arises. Even if it's to try something that you feel you may be missing out on due to this condition."

"... Thank you, I greatly appriciate it. I really do." She smiled with great relief.

"Apart from that though, I'm healthy and fit. Honestly. I... just try to avoid indulging too much in drinking, in case it might have a bad effect on me."
