(Day 4, EA) Back In The Saddle Again

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

Meushi was running round the Shinjo playfully, occasionally charging at him and stopping short. Monkhbaatar obviously wouldn't be able to keep up with her, but they were just playing and she knew it. He chased her around a bit and occasionally tagged her to which she would speed up a bit and come around to charge him again. They looked to be having a fair amount of fun together.

Kogo watched them as she walked into the field, Noburu at her side. The Unicorn are more unrestrained than any Clan I have ever met. And coming from my family, that says something. And yet, there is something to appreciate in it. She calls out, "Hello over there!" She picks up her pace, with Noburu starting a small jogging lope and running back and forth near her. Clearly, Noburu has spent too much time on her own in the tent.

As Kogo got closer, Monkhbaatar whistled to Meushi with a smile. She trotted up to him and he put a hand in her mane, running his fingers through it, guiding the horse towards their visitors, catching his breath though he's not terribly winded since he had only been playing lightly. "Matsu-san," he said with a smile. "Good afternoon. I hope your day is enjoyable so far."

She smiles back. "Quite enjoyable Shinjo-san. It is good to see you so light hearted with Meushi." Noburu buts against her hip, almost toppling her for second. " Do not get any ideas Noburu. You are not a cub any longer. "

"No wrestling with Noboru then?" he asks with good humor. "I imagine that might be a one sided match with such a big opponent."

She laughs. "She does not fight fair, this one. Too keen to win, like so many Lions. But she is a joy nonetheless. " she scratches Noburu's ears and feels the deep bone purr that comes from Noburu.

"Some of the younger horses don't know any better when it comes to playing. Usually when horses play with each other, they'll bite and kick. It's normal for them. But even if just using playful amounts of force, bites and kicks will ruin a person's day, potentially leaving them injured, crippled or dead. Have to wait until they're older and more understanding," he replies, with a laugh as he pets Meushi's neck.

"So... are you ready for another ride?"

She nods. "Cubs are the same way. They do not realize our hides are not as tough as theirs. " She watches his stance with Meushi. "Yes, I would be honored. "

"Alright then," he says moving to get the rope and tie it off to Meushi once again. "We're going to get her moving at a trot once you've settled in rather than just a walk. Get you used to moving with her rather than just sitting on her."

He then moves to help Kogo up like last time.

"Alright," he says with a nod, letting off slack in the rope. "Remember your form, well make sure you have it right for a minute or so."

He observes her posture and nods at it.

She moves into the previous position, finding it easily due to her bushi training and its requirements of being conscious of the body. "I think I have found it. It seems easier than the other day."

"It should," he says. "The more you sit in the saddle with proper posture the easier it is to get used to. I'm not going to start her walking. I want you to do that. Give a light squeeze with you legs and tap her with your heel. Very light. You can't do it too lightly but you can do it too hard and she'll move fast if you do it to hard, so err on the side of caution and increase strength until she starts to move."
