Beginning with the highest-ranking character, each character will be allowed to choose a spouse from the other participants. Unicorn characters must choose a spouse from among the participating non-Unicorn characters, and non-Unicorn characters must choose a spouse from the participating Unicorn characters.

Fluff question.

Since Meishodo shugenja cannot cast spells from scrolls as Unicorn have lost (?) connection with the kami, does this imply that anyone can learn meishodo regardless of their bloodline, as opposed with the shugenja, who must inherit the 'shugenja gene'?

Technically, yes, anyone could feasibly learn meishodo (just like anyone could technically learn how to be a Sahir in the Burning Sands).

I went with fishing net, because nets can always be used for other things if no fishing.

There's no real reason why a shugenja can't be a bushi, other than some hand-waved explanations to preserve game balance.
