Getting it Out of the System (D2, EM)

[Tonbo Misa]

Deciding that the horse needed at least a little room, Misa finally let go, though the smile couldn't leave her face. "I can only imagine Shinjo-san. I have never left the Dragon mountains, yet your clan has traveled very far over the centuries. Doing so without a beast like a horse to accompany and carry you would have been much worse if I had to guess."

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"More than that, they inspire and encourage us." he added. "I can appreciate any animal, but I've always seen a nobility in our horses. They will carry us to any lengths. How can we give any less than our best efforts?"

[Tonbo Misa]

"That's something that could be said to be true no matter what, but I understand Shinjo-san's point." She nodded and smiled before pausing to softly chew her lower lip a moment. "I hope my best here shows something of myself. There are a lot of things I'm not good at. I'm not certain I'll prove myself a very wonderful catch."

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"I don't know what the tests will be. And, I'm not sure how they'll determine our worth as a spouse." he shrugged. "But, I think we show a lot of ourselves, just by trying. I am sure Tonbo-sama's best qualities will shine through any performance."

[Tonbo Misa]

Misa nodded, letting her smile blossom again. "Of course. Don't think that I believe myself anything other than worthy Shinjo-san, or that I doubt I have talents. I merely know my limitations, and things like shooting a bow, riding a horse, tracking an animal down... they all benefit greatly from being able to see, yes?"

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"Of course." he agreed. "However, our Champion lost her sight when she was my age. She led us through the Dark Ride and brought us home. Not all challenges can be overcome, but many can, no matter how daunting."

"Besides, I've no doubt that you will excel in tests that I will fail in." he added. "We each have skills the others do not."

[Tonbo Misa]

"If I find tests that suit my learning, I will be pleasantly surprised." Misa gave a soft laugh, but was smiling. "Every little success I have will be counted as greater though. Or perhaps that is merely the positivism that I carry with me."

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"It is better to be an optimist and be wrong, than to be a pessimist and be right." he offered. "Remain positive, Tonbo-sama."

[Tonbo Misa]

Misa gave a firm nod, looking determined, almost stoically so. "I will... I must. For myself, as well as my cousin, and family. Thank you Shinjo-san."

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"Thank you, Tonbo-sama, for helping me forget the effects of last night's dinner." he said. "I feel much better."

[Tonbo Misa]

Misa gave a proper bow as her servant came up next to her. "And the same to you in turn Shinjo-san. With that in mind I should take my leave. May your day be blessed."

Sanmi began to lead her mistress off after a bow of her own.

He stood and returned the bow. Watching them leave, he climbed into the saddle. He and Sarangerel soon ride off.
