Dinner Party [D3, EE, OPEN]

[Yuzuki]

The Unicorn had provided a large tent, more than capable of housing all the guests who might show up to the dinner party; where, upon arrival, one would note there was a fair amount of diversity on offer.

Rice with various combinations of vegetables proved to the mainstay, no doubt agreeable to more sensible Unicorn stomachs, but there were dishes involving fish, as well as some other Rokugani options for those wanting a bit more than the standard fare. All in all, the quality of cooking seemed more than adequate, though it fell short of the perfection that the Mantis had hoped for. Such was life, however, and few complaints were likely to be heard.

In addition to the food, there was sake on offer as well, and the layout of the tent seemed to be designed for maximum mingling efficiency, encouraging people to try different dishes and strike up conversations with multiple people.

"Eto," Yuzuki called everyone's attention once it seemed like the gathered crowd had grown sizeable enough.

"Ahem. Err, for those of you who don't know, I'm Yuzuki of the Mantis Clan. And I want to thank you all for coming to this dinner I've organized for you all. It was pretty hard cooking for so many people, but I think I did pretty okay. Thankfully, I had some help from Kitsune Kumahime-san, who is probably around here somewhere, so be sure to say hi to her. I'd also like to thank Yasuki Tomonaga-sama, who has been gracious enough to provide us all with some sake. And everyone knows that Yasuki sake is the best sake there is, so there's that. And I believe Soshi Bantu-sama intends to follow this dinner up with a game night."

She was not good at speaking in public, so it might not be a surprise if there was an awkward pause here and there.

"Eto, so... I'd also like to thank our hosts, the Unicorn. Of course. And like to once again welcome them back to the empire. Hopefully, my cooking won't make you want to leave again."

Insert awkward pause for laughter.

"With that said," she raised a cup of sake. "A toast. To the return of the Unicorn. And a succesful miai!"

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

Monkhbaatar was looking forward to trying even more Rokugani food. A stomach was only so large and because of that he could only fit so much of the food from the first day's banquet when he had the chance. Now he had another. Not that he was going to eat like a ravenous animal, but he was going to try a good amount of the food.

He nodded his thanks to the Mantis, undoubtedly with many others, before beginning.

[Shiba Kaizen]

Shiba Kaizen nodded to himself at the Mantis' attempt at oratory. He could appreciate the sentiment and not being a courtier himself the delivery was fine. He walked about sampling what was there to offer and nursing a single cup of sake. He wondered if any of the other Phoenix would be found here.

[Yasuki Tomonaga]

Tomonaga listened, smiling, to the speech that the Mantis gave. The actual delivery of the speech wasn't the best, but it was sincere, and that was good enough. Besides, his Crab cousins didn't tend to give the best speeches, either. He bowed when his own name was mentioned, and laughed cheerfully at the Mantis's joke. "Hear, hear!" He said, lifting his cup in the toast.

After that, he took some food and drink. The former seemed quite good enough, and certainly less of a culinary challenge compared to the last big meal he'd had here. At the same time, though, he mingled, acting as assistant host, and making sure everyone was enjoying the sake that bore his family name.

[Matsu Yurio]

It was Minor Clan run . . . so the Lion had to send at least a scout, with probably a vanguard behind him to assault the tables later. Yurio sauntered in with the confidence of a top predator in a 'fun'-sized package and began to circulate. 'Scouting' the food tables as it where.

I wonder if she has any of that cheeeez stuff?

[Yuzuki]

This, of course, was an event mainly meant for mingling. Especially between Unicorn and non-Unicorn. And Yuzuki was host, so that meant she was supposed to make sure everyone was having a good time. Especially the Unicorn. Especially the Unicorn men.

Which is how she found herself near Monkhbaatar at some point, giving him a bow as he'd notice her.

"Is Shinjo-sama is enjoying the food?"

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"Very much so," he says with a smile and a bow. "Shinjo Monkhbaatar. It's a pleasure to meet you. Thanks for putting all this together and providing another great opportunity to see more culinary culture and meet new people. How have you enjoyed the miai thus far?"

[Yuzuki]

"It has been a learning experience," she said. "I'm afraid I haven't managed to do well in any of the events your people have put on, but other than dissappointment with my own performance it's been enjoyable."

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"Well, there are many more events left to go. We have a lot of families," he says with a nod. "I'm sure there will be something that you'll be able to shine with."

[Ichiro Daisuke]

Daisuke wasn't going to miss a event hosted by one of the others minors clanners, even if he felt like drinking fifteen bottles of sake and passing out for the next day or two. Still he wasn't in the mood for conversation, so after stepping inside he made his way to a corner of the tent. Perhaps hoping to eat and drink in peace.

[Mindshred]

The hunter crouched amid the shadows of the tent, his bottom in the air as his tail flicked anxiously from side to side. He waited, quietly, watching as the humans wandered about the tent, oblivious to the danger he represented.

They thought themselves the rulers of this land.

This day would see them pay for their hubris.

As the Badger samurai passed her by, he saw his moment to strike. Muscles tensed as he pounced forward, front legs extended as his claws sliced out from their fleshy sheathes...




Suddenly, a cat leaps up onto the dinner table, his feet trampling across three different types of sauce. A flick of his paw sends a bowl of soup spilling across an assortment of fish dishes, providing a distraction as he leaps forward, plowing into the stacked bottles of sake and sending them crashing to the floor.

Eyes wide with enjoyment, Kon the cat skitters around, his rump wiggling as he pounces right into the heart of the dinner table. He twists as she jumps, landing on his side and transitioning into a roll that takes him from the midway point of the table to the far end, leaving cat hair in his wake and a great deal of smushed food in his fur.

[Shinjo Kemuri]

"Hello there." Kemuri gave the cat a curious glance and a friendly smile, as it ended its run near him. "Are you hungry?"

[Shimizu Ryori]

Ryori and Kyra are currently working through collecting food and finding a spot to settle into when chaos breaks, Ryori immediately signals to Kyra not to interfere with her much smaller cousin.

[Yuzuki]

"Excuse me, Shinjo-san,"

Yuzuki gave a short bow as she went to check on whatever was causing the disturbance...

...only to find it was Kon!

Oh no.

"Kon!" she raised her voice as she headed in the cat's direction. "You know better than this!"

She tried to grab him.

[Matsu Yurio]

Kitty!

Yurio also moved towards the cat and made an attempt to grab the absolutely magnificent ball of fur.
