Drinks on you (D3, EM, Yuzuki's Yurt)

[Yuzuki]

Yuzuki's yurt had its flap open, and looking in from the outside one might find the Mantis busy sorting through various sacks and boxes and bottles as she made sure her supplies were in order for the evening's festivities.

[Moto Baatar]

"Wow, you have a lot of stuff," came a voice from the front of Yuzuki's yurt. Just outside the entrance was a young Unicorn, gaping at the Mantis and the piles of supplies she was shifting around the tent. "Are you some kinda merchant?"

[Yuzuki]

"Huh?"

She came up to the entrance to look at the owner of the voice. Who was a kid. No wait, he was carrying a wakizashi, so that meant he'd passed his gempukku, right? Assuming that's how the Unicorn did things, anyway.

"Uh. No. This is all for the party tonight. You haven't heard about that?"

[Moto Baatar]

"Oh yeah!" the young Unicorn said, nodding as he remembered. "My cousin told me about a party being held tonight by the... uh... Locust Clan, I think. Are you one of their cooks?"

[Yuzuki]

...

"Mantis Clan," she corrected, then gave him a light bow. "Yuzuki, of the Mantis. And I'm a bushi. I just happen to cook as well."

[Yasuki Tomonaga]

Not long later, a Crab came along, peering at the nearby yurts. Despite the early hour, he looked perfectly fresh and ready for the day, energy in his step, and his attire well-fitting. Spotting the open flap, he first peered in for a moment, and then approached, smiling.

"Hey, Mantis-san." He said, bowing casually. "And Unicorn-san, good morning." He bowed to the young man as well, before turning back to the Mantis. "Are you the one putting on the feast?"

[Yuzuki]

"I am," she said, giving the unfamiliar yasuki a bow. "Yuzuki, of the Mantis."

[Moto Baatar]

"Mantis Clan," she corrected, then gave him a light bow. "Yuzuki, of the Mantis. And I'm a bushi. I just happen to cook as well."

"Oh, Mantis Clan, then," the Unicorn agreed. "The Locust Clan must be somebody else. Are you gonna cook bugs like we had at the feast two nights ago?"

Not long later, a Crab came along, peering at the nearby yurts.

"Hey, Mantis-san." He said, bowing casually. "And Unicorn-san, good morning." He bowed to the young man as well, before turning back to the Mantis.

"Oh, uh, hi there," the Unicorn said to Tomonaga's back.

[Yuzuki]

"Uhm, I think those were shrimp. Not bugs. And I think I have a few?"

[Moto Baatar]

"Uhm, I think those were shrimp. Not bugs. And I think I have a few?"

"Shrimp? Is that what they're called?" he asked. "They looked gross, but they were pretty good after you pull all the legs off. Do they come from your clan's lands?"

[Yasuki Tomonaga]

"Oh, uh, hi there," the Unicorn said to Tomonaga's back.

Tomonaga turned, angling his body so that the three of them could more or less face each other. He didn't seem especially concerned about having interrupted a conversation, though.

[Yuzuki]

"Uh, not all of them. But yes, a lot of seafood comes from Mantis territory, as we live on the Islands of Spice and Silk. Best fishing in Rokugan."

She looked toward the Yasuki.

"Although there's good stock if you sail out of Clear Water Village too."

[Yasuki Tomonaga]

"Yasuki Tomonaga. It's a pleasure to meet you. And you, Unicorn-san."

For the first time, it seemed to occur to him that he might have entered an existing conversation. "Oh, umm, I hope I'm not interrupting anything." He said with a slightly repentant smile. "I was just wondering... I see you've got food here. Shrimp included. They do sort of look like bugs, don't they? Hmmm." It seemed for a moment he lost his train of thought, frowning as he considered shrimp, bugs, and their similarities.

[Moto Baatar]

"Oh, you live on an island?" the Unicorn asked, continuing to pepper Yuzuki with questions. "Is that why you have to eat fish and bugs? Is there not very much rice there?"

[Yuzuki]

"They're not... they're not bugs."

She scratched at one of her cheeks.

"We do have some rice, but between the terrain and the jungle, we don't have a lot of room to grow it. But samurai throughout the empire eat fish and shrimp."
