Time Slot: Early Afternoon
Magic: Not Allowed
Choose a Target: There are six targets set up on the archery field. In increasing order of distance, they are the blue target, the green target, the yellow target, the orange target, the red target, and the black target.
The target the character is initially told to shoot at is determined by the number of Kyujutsu ranks she possesses:
- 0 Ranks: Blue Target (TN 10)
1 Rank: Green Target (TN 15)
2 Ranks: Yellow Target (TN 20)
3 Ranks: Orange Target (TN 25)
4 Ranks: Red Target (TN 30)
5 Ranks: Black Target (TN 35)
If the character has the Overconfident disadvantage, they must make a TN 20 Perception Trait Roll. On a failure, their boasting to the Shinjo results in their Kyujutsu skill being treated as if it were two points higher for the purposes of determining which target the character is told to shoot at.
Pew Pew Pew
Once the character has been told which target to shoot at, they may voluntarily choose to shoot at a target with higher difficulty. This choice must be made before the character rolls any dice for this event, and the color of the target must be listed in every dice roll; if not, the roll does not count toward scoring. Once this decision is made, the character cannot change target difficulties.
The character then makes a Kyujutsu (any bow)/Reflexes roll against the TN of the target. On a success, the character earns 1 Archery Point, plus 1 Archery Points per successful Raise. On a failure, the shot goes wide and the character loses 1 Archery Point for every Called Raise.
For every tier of target above what the character was originally told to shoot at, the character earns +1 Archery Point on a successful roll.
The character then repeats this process four more times, for a total of five shots at her chosen target.
Scoring: Once the character has finished shooting, the Shinjo will check the target and calculate the character's score. The character(s) with the most Archery Points will earn 3 Courtship Points, the character(s) with the second most Archery Points will earn 2 Courtship Points, and the character(s) with the third most Archery Points will earn 1 Courtship Point.
If a character shoots at a target two or more tiers above what they were initially given and hits all five shots, the sense of accomplishment results in that character either losing the Doubt (Archery) disadvantage (if they have it) or gaining the Overconfident disadvantage (if they do not).
