Secondary Responsibilities. (Day 2 Late afternoon)

[Ichiro Daisuke]

It wasn't like Daisuke was avoiding another Ide event, well that was a lie. After being poisoned last night and then hearing it had something to do with languages, he decided to find somewhere else to be. He would likely only embarrass himself if he tried it anyways.

After a bit of contemplation he decided to stop by the dojo, if he was going to skip out on a event, he at least should do something productive, and at this hour it would likely be empty, which right now would be a plus.

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

Chi-Pu sits outside the Dojo and uses a small handheld mirror to look at her face. In front of her lays a wooden case filled with various colored dusts and a brush.

She picks up the brush and dabs it lightly into one of the colored patches and then applies it to her cheek.

As Daisuke approaches the building, Chi-Pu glimpses him in the mirror. She stands and faces him, giving a short bow.

"Oh, hello..um..Boar?-san"

Her intonation raises in question when she sees the mon.

It was a bit of a curious sight he came across as he approached the dojo, a woman seemingly touching up her makeup outside it. He supposed it made a bit of sense though, especially if she just finished pr acting.

Then she addressed him as boar, something that left him out of sorts for a few moments, but he seemed to recover quickly enough. "Ah... It's Badger-san." He offered with what he hoped was a helpful smile followed by a bow. "The Boar haven't been a clan for a few hundred years or so.." Should he have said that?

Trying perhaps to smooth things over he plowed right along into a introduction. "Though I suppose it would be just as easy to refer to me by my name. I'm Ichiro Daisuke, of the Badger." He offered the older woman another bow.

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

"Oh, I am sorry, Ichiro-san. I did not mean offense. There are so many mons to memorize now that we have returned."

Chi-Pu smiles brightly the the man as she puts her makeup kit and mirror away.

"I am Otaku Chi-Pu. Did you come to train this afternoon?"

[Ichiro Daisuke]

"There's nothing you need to apologize for Otaku-sama, I was just a bit surprised, didn't expect the Boar to come up."

He offered her a smile in return. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, and you have the right on it. I figured I'd get some training in since I wasn't going to attempt this days event."

"Are you here for the same?"

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

Chi-Pu nods.

"I had many matters that required my attention and did not sleep through the night, and have only just awoken. I prefer to begin my days with some sort of training, after I have made myself ready."

She motions to the makeup kit.

"With how warm it is, I did not wish to have my warhorse exert herself, and thought the Dojo would provide a good opportunity to see the techniques of Rokugan."

She steps inside the dojo and looks around for a moment before looking back to the Badger.

"That said, do you know where everyone is? I am think I must have missed some announcement."

[Ichiro Daisuke]

"Seems like you had a eventful night indeed if you've only just awoken." Though what she could of been doing be couldn't really imagine. Maybe it had something to do with the fires he had heard mentioned?

Following her, he enters the dojo as well, pausing a moment at the entrance to pay his respect to the space.

"Everyone? I'd imagine they are at the Administrative center, attending the second test the Ide have in store."

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

Chi-Pu frowns.

"Ah. Well. I suppose missing one should not be too bad, no?"

Laughing brightly, the woman makes sure her shoes are off and bows to the front of the dojo and then walks onto the mats.

"What style are the Badger known for? I admit, without my warhorse, the Otaku are not known for footwork."

[Ichiro Daisuke]

"Probably not, from what I heard it was something to do with language and money as well. So I don't expect I would of done very well anyways."

Stepping onto the mats after he had removed his sandals he began to stretch a bit to loosen his muscles. "The Badger are heavy infantry for the most part. Wearing Heavy armor and wielding tetsubo's and the like. I'm a bit different though, I'm a scout and archer by training, though I know a little about fighting up close as well."

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

"I never enjoyed what one would call the courtly skills. Leave that to the Ide, I say."

She looks over the man and ponders for a moment.

"A scout you say? Can you ride? Or are you an infantry scout?"

[Ichiro Daisuke]

"I'd have to agree with you there, I'd prefer not to involve myself too much in politics."

He paused in his stretches to look towards the older woman. "I'm a infantry scout, the badger lands are mostly foothills and mountains, so horses are of limited use."

"Of course I could probably learn to be a mounted scout, but it'd take some time."

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

As the Badger stretches, Chi-Pu begins to do the same.

"I see. So, Ichiro-san, what is your goal here in finding a spouse?"

She asks directly and to the point.

[Ichiro Daisuke]

"I've got a couple." He admitted easily enough. "First off, my clan the Badger are your neighbors to the north, and while one marriage might not mean too much, my clan would like to get along with yours and it could be a step in the right direction."

"Next, my clan's duty is to protect the Pass of Woe from any Gaijin invaders, and as your clan has spent hundreds of years beyond the borders of the empire, if there is anyone that knows more then we do, it would be you. So there is a chance to share knowledge and learn, something that could aide my clan in the future."

Stretching done he moved over to the weapon racks to select a bokken. "So simply put, my goal here is to aide my clan in what ways I can."

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

"There are many in the Unicorn who can tell you of what we saw, though each family will be different, Iuchi-san. We only recently all came back together after all. For the most part, each family rode on their own and experienced their own set of gaijin lands, peoples, and customs."

The woman begins a series of side stretches as she speaks, each stretch showing further mobility than the last.

"The Otaku for example had a large portion of our family enslaved in the City of Sorcerers. Only though acting as concubines were my sisters able to infiltrate the city and turn its leaders against themselves, freeing my family and our steeds."

Finished with her side stretches, Chi-Pu transitions to arm stretches.

"That rescue led to the pact that only women may ride an Otaku steed into battle, and thus the men of the Otaku are often relegated to support. They have an incredibly important role however of training the steeds for our maidens to ride, and also maintaining an infantry regiment for the family."

Completing her series of arm stretches, the woman finalizes her routine with some leg and knee stretches.

"A Maiden also vows to be pure, and does not marry or engage with men until their first steed is of retirement age, usually when they are in their early twenties as I am."

Chi-Pu sighs a little.

"Our current situation however and this Miai have put that particular tradition on hold until the Unicorn can bolster their numbers."

Chi-Pu draws her Katana and begins running through basic motions as she talks.

"As a Nikutai (Assistant Gunso), it has been my duty to train the Otaku Shiotome (Battle Maidens). Now that we are in Rokugan, I must know, what threats have you seen? You say the Badger guard against gaijin? Who or what are they? I will happily tel you of what I know in return."

He listened as she explained a bit about the Unicorn and her own family in particular. He hadn't know that part about how all of them separated, but it was something Important to know, After all it did make his task ahead a lot more lengthy. Some of her families practices were also a bit disappointing, he might have a hard time fitting in among them.

"Well I can't say my Clan deals with the same enemies as most of the rest of the empire, the crab far to the south are always fighting the agents of the ninth, in their various different forms, other then that though. The clan's mostly fight each other. The lion for example, recently devastated the Tonbo, and before that they were at war with the Phoenix. The crab were also recently at War with the phoenix."

"Then there are the snake men, the Naga. The war with them recently ended though, and things seem peaceful for now."

"As for the Badger, we are facing a new breed of Barbarian, they carry strange weapons, one's which we haven't seen the likes of and coming riding giant lizards. Lizards large enough to bite a fully armored samurai in half. They also are using much more advanced tactics then they were previously. It's made the fighting quite difficult."
