I never really bought that Fu Leng was just a sobriquet.

Maybe originally, but since then, we've had lots of instances in stories where Fu Leng refers to himself as Fu Leng, and there's really no reason why he would stop using his real name when talking with his peeps.

I mean, it's not like he's pulling a Voldemort. Dude is super proud of who and what he is.
