[D2, EM] Oni Aftermath

[Fairuz Kaiya]

"That is.. very badly burned." Kaiya spoke in a hushed tone himself. "Who was sleeping in this tent?"

It was pretty much the only thing they had to go on, as far as identity was concerned.

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

Chi-Pu stands quickly and rushes to the Iuchi's side.

"We had no idea. We were focused on defeating the monster."

Chi-Pu frowns deeply and turns to the others.

"No one can say anything to anyone. This must be kept secret until Ide-sama has been informed. The clans and Other Unicorn must not be told until appropriate matters have been handled."

[Shinjo Taichi]

Suitably chastised by the more learned members of the group, Taichi apologised and held the jade for a time without ill effects, keeping his silence for a time.

At the mention of someone being dead, he seems quite shaken, taking it as a personal failure. "I... had no idea..."

"I'm afraid that I'm not sure whose yurt it was." Turning to the Otaku, he bowed to her seniority "As you say, Otaku-sama."

[Ide Amaya]

After making sure that Saksaha and Kaiya had been served tea, and now one cup short, Amaya had folded her hands and waited quietly, listening respectfully. After a time, she gathered together the empty cups to be washed, and she picked the broken cup, somewhat embarrassed by what she'd done.

At Chi-Pu's words, Amaya bowed to her cousin, "on my honour," she promised.

[Moto Butaj]

Butaj rushes in to join the gathering and tries to figure out what is going on.

[Iuchi Batul]

Near to the Moto, Batul runs up to the scene, clearly affected by the view as she stares in awe. I thought we left all this behind us? She thinks to herself as she goes and watches the burned body on the ground.

"What??? What has happened here?" She asked as she pulled her kimono to it's position from having recently waken up.

[Moto Butaj]

Butaj keeps grim calm as he takes in the field of destruction. "Butaj would like to know that too."

[Ide Amaya]

Having already vowed her silence, she pondered just how much to say, but her cousins' eyes already bore witness to the destruction. Quietly, "Chi-Pu-Sama has described battle with a creature foul." She did not say anything of shadows or the dark times they had known, but it pushed to the forefront of her mind, and her entire body was tense. "Fairuz-Sama has said that Magistrates must be called, as demanded by the law of Rokugan I suppose."

[Moto Butaj]

"Is this what Sayyeda Kitakuhime or Sayyeda Khulun have agreed to?" Butaj makes it plain where his sense of authority is. Those easterners can assert many funny things Butaj has little idea about being legitimate or not. "And who is Fairuz? Sounds like a Medinaati name to Butaj."

[Fairuz Kaiya]

Yes, because a secret is easy to keep when it involves a burnt tent and corpse in the middle of the camp, along with a clearly unnatural terrain feature that wasn't there the night before! Why don't we just put up a big sign that reads 'IGNORE ME' next to all of this, for the good that will do? Panic nothing, you may well just end up creating a mob demanding to know the details..

For his thoughts, Kaiya opted to be a bit more tactful and to the point. "Then it is imperative that Ide-sama be informed at once. If this is anything but an isolated incident, then swift action is necessary."
His eyes returned to the charred remains, a clear message of what may be otherwise.

Then came additional eyes, as if on cue.. not that he took any joy in being right about some things, though they probably overheard his last statement. He turned and bowed in greeting to the newcomers..

"Minna-sama. I am that Fairuz. Fairuz Kaiya. The immediate threat is resolved thanks to swift action from your brethren, but there has been a death in the camp. Do you know who was staying in this tent?"

[Iuchi Batul]

"If it is the law, then the authorities must be informed broberly, though I think in this moment that would be the Ide." She added to indicate her thoughts slightly contrary to the thought of Butaj and some of the others. "We have never encountered something like this, so maybe the Embire would have more answers than if we dealt with this on our own."

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

With a frown, Chi-Pu shakes her head.

"I do not know who lived in this section of the Yurts."

Chi-Pu stands in front of everyone.

"Ide Dabo-sama will be alerted to the danger as soon as possible. I am certain Otaku Kotakuhime-sama did so after she tended to Moto Khulun-san's wounds."

She raises her voice.

"Unicorn!"

A little louder

"Samurai of Rokugan!"

Chi-Pu continues, authority in her voice

I am Otaku Chi-Pu, Nikutai for the Otaku. A great evil transpired last night! A foul demon attacked our camp and was slain by the actions of Otaku Kitauhime, Moto Khulun, Shinjo Taichi, and myself. Someone has died from the fires the creature caused. Unicorn and those outside the Unicorn, we ask you not spread word until Ide-sama makes a formal address. Rest assured, the Unicorn will keep you safe. By no means am I saying to lie, if you are approached and asked what happened, remember Bushido and be honest! Show restraint however with discussions and let not the gossip wheels begin to turn. Much needs to be determined yet, and the Miai must continue undisturbed!"

She then turns back to those investigating the scene to answer any more questions they might have.

[Moto Butaj]

Butaj still remembers the Dark Ride so grim things don't make him fret too much. He cares deeply for the living, though, and so he rushes to Chi-Pu's side.

"Lella Chi-Pu, how badly hurt Sayyeda Khulun is?"

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

"She was unable to move, Butaj. Otaku-sama has taken her to rest for now. Other than that I do not know."

[Moto Butaj]

"Butaj knows a doctor that may help. Butaj is going to look for him." The man says with resolve. "Anything else there for Butaj to know or do?"
