Tomonaga looked a little doubtful. "Ummmm... maybe." He remembered his parents sometimes sounding rather excited when someone had died; it often meant an opportunity to get a bigger chunk of their business. Tomonaga grimaced ever so slightly.

"Still, I'm glad you're... okay, Togashi-san." Tomonaga gave the man a wan smile. With him no longer drinking, it would be up to the two of them to come up with a new toast, if they wanted.

Imane's perfectly made up face turned to look down at the Miya. She did not recognise her but that hardly mattered.

"Thank you samurai-sama, that seems appropriate. Otaku Imane is my name."

She offered a polite smile and bowed from her seated position. The horse moved to allow her to better see her visitor. Her cup was empty and so she looked to see if sake or kumis was available for a refill.

Mei returns the bow.

"Miya Mei is mine. "

Mei whistles suddenly and her pony slowly walks from where she had left him. In a fluid motion the woman mounted her pony bareback. Even mounted, the Otaku and her warhorse towered over them.

"Tomorrow will be a bett..." Udo remembers that tomorrow is the Unicorn meeting with the Champion and chokes on his words. He quickly finishes his sake. "May tomorrow be blessed by the Fortunes."

"We were told to do that if we didn't want to risk her... body coming alive. The monks told us as much." Dong-Ha shrugged, not realizing that he was discussing potentially blasphemous things. "Each group had their traditions, some buried their dead, some burnt them. Others... had more esoteric ways."

"Well, i just had to send one of my kinsmen to her last journey, and only and only because a great dragon fell from the skies and decided to start eating people. An ill omen, I am told." he dead panned, looking at Yurio. "Besides that I am peachy."

An unkind thought popped into Imane's head. I wonder if that pony knows any other tricks? It was hard to understand how anyone could tolerate riding such a small horse, but then she supposed it might be better than nothing.

"Miya Mei." Her accent made the words sound slightly unfamiliar. "Seppun Hideo-san told me of your family, it is good to meet you Miya-san."

Once some alcohol had been secured and their cups filled the battle maiden raised hers. "Thank you, she was indeed a noble warrior. You suggested a toast Miya-san?"

Yue kept quiet as she watched the two converse. She was unsure of their relationship but it was not her place to ask. Instead, she said, "I will leave you two be. May the fortunes favor you both." She gave them both bows and left with a solemn smile on her face.

The story may stop Yue.

Butaj thinks a little about a heroic story he can make up right off the bat. He's honest and truthful, but legends are legends, and Chi-Pu earned a place as one.

"There was a time when Chi-pu was just a girl when drought came, and horses had not enough water. But Chi-pu knew stories from travellers that there is a brook across the desert pan, right at the foot of a mountain. And she rode out on Tianma to find the brook for the herd, this was how brave she was, even being young!

But as she rode across the trecherous sand and cutting rock in scorching rage of Shilah... the Sun her vision blurred from heat and she lost focus and then, out of nowhere, a large cobra appeared! So large than none in the camp had ever seen such a great cobra. And you should know cobras are terrifying snakes, very venomous and fast as an arrow shot from dai-kyu! One bite and life is gone, even for such a great steed like Tianma! And Chi-pu knew the danger very well, but was not afraid at all! She made Tianma stand still and stared at the cobra, trying to stare it down, it sometimes works. But this was no ordinary cobra, maybe it was even a timeless cobra that had once been a pet of one of Evil Sorcerers of Laramun, vicious to the last scale, clever and vile! And the great cobra swayed and swung, ready to attack any moment!

But then, Chi-pu showed her who is faster than lightning! She sprung out on Tianma before the cobra new it, but instead of riding away she started circling the giant snake at full gallop! And the snake twisted and turned and leapt and whirled but was always one pace behind Chi-pu and Tianma! The maiden and her mare rode so fast that a small sirocco formed around the snake, a column of dust and wind, and the cobra saw nothing, was hazed and dazed, but still deadly! Chi-pu hoped that its neck would snap from all the whirling, but it was not the case. But let Butaj remind you that she was yet a girl, no swords at her hip, this is how brave she was! And so she leapt into the sirocco from the back of Tianma at full speed, to catch the cobra in the iron grip and snap the neck herself! This is the daring hard to imagine but did she not do the same with the giant wyrm? This is how she was even when she was this small!

And so mortal combat began! The snake was strong and lashed and wreathed to get a chance to bite Chi-pu just once, just scratch her with venomous fang, but she was like sirocco herself, like Lady Shinjo herself, never where she stood, but a length further. But she was without water and the heat was merciless, all was against her, but she didn't give up! In the final daring moment she tossed the snake out. The cobra was about to lash back but this is when Tianma's hoof fell on its head, smashing it into a leaf against a rock, flat just like the cobra's collar! Chi-pu and Tianma always fought together, and against great cobra it was no different!

And so, Chi-pu felled the great cobra, and found the brook and the herd was saved. And from the skin of the great cobra many a hilt for katanas and wakizashis were made and they never got slippery. Such was the bravery, the strength, the selflessness and the reliability of Chi-pu. It will never be forgotten."

Butaj smiles. His booming voice has carried the story far and wide.

"And to that we drink."

Her cup was raised in a salute as she looked at the pyre. "Fe sahatek." "To the memory of Otaku Chi-Pu."

Imane knocked back the drink and returned her gaze to the Miya. "Thank you Miya-san. Did you have a chance to meet her? I had not realised until now that there were any Miya present at the miai."

Kogo listens intently to the story and enhoys it, if nothing else for hearing another of Otaku-san's stories. She moves from the Matsu she had been standing next to towards Butaj, listening intently within his line of sight and smiling at the story. When it is over, she steps close to Butaj and offers praise. "That was an excellent story Moto-sama. I am glad to hear more of Otaku-sama. This one is Matsu Kogo and the mischevious cat next to her is Noburu. " Noburu looks up from licking her paw when her name is said.

Butaj offers his hand for a handshake, with a broad smile. Kogo looks like a woman who could handle it without problem so he sees no need to hold back. Kogo pauses, unsure of how to handle this moment or what the Unicorn is indicating. She has never seen a handshake before, having interacted only with the Shinjo so far. She reaches her hand out as a mirroring, but at a distance so it does not touch, assuming it is a greeting sign she has not seen before. "I remember you as well Moto-sama. If I recall, you were making the acquaintance of a Doji at the time. Otaku-sama spoke well of you." Perhaps the same Doji Akil-san spoke of...
