[D1 LA] Short Lesson Before Dinner

Tomoe replied by nudging her elbow into his side.

He chuckled, "Only to get a rise out of you, I promise."

He leaned back against the tree again, "So are you looking to stay in the Hare?"

"I think I would prefer that, yes," she said with a nod, looking slightly pensive. "Less chance of having to ride a horse everyday, I guess... and you know, we're not exactly bountiful in numbers of adult samurai yet."

Her condition wasn't exactly something that would lend itself well to someone who would have to spend long hours on horseback, even if she didn't say it out loud. She always hated being reminded of her medical condition, and just the fact that Yuuru knew was annoying enough.

"I don't think they're all horse riders out here. I'm sure you'd be able to find an acceptable existence out here among them. I don't think any lord would put their subordinates into a position where they knew they weren't fit." He smiled.

"But the Hare do need more samurai. And any future Hare samurai would be fortunate to have you for their progenitor."

"Are you saying that now to flatter me?" she teased and gave another playful nudge.

"What about you? Looking to join the Unicorn, or do you want to stay Scorpion?"

[Matsu Kogo]

"I'm glad to hear that. It feels nice to be home after such a long journey. It's something I've been waiting for my entire life and has finally come to fruition," he replies, smiling warmly at her. "And the prospect of seeing the empire, something so many generations before me didn't get the opportunity to do, is inspiring and exciting. Maybe you'll be able to show me around and we can see the sights together. The Lion are our neighbors after all so that might not be a bad place to start if I get the opportunity."

"Of course! The Lion know much of this land for their stewardship of it. I would be glad to show you around and learn more of it myself. I have not strayed as far from my family lands as I would sometimes like. Now that my gempukku is over, perhaps there will be more time for that."

"I guess it's just simple flattery... if you think I lie every time I open my mouth. But I like to think I tell the truth sometimes." He chuckled.

"Me? Anywhere I can keep exploring and adventuring. Here's okay for that I suppose. And who knows, maybe one day soon the Unicorn lands will stretch to my forest."

"They're a Lion force," Yuki explained. "Very elite, the best of the best. The unit is made up entirely of women."

"It would seem that they are of a similar make then, Asako-san," she answered as best as she knew. "There are no better riders than the Otaku Battle Maidens."

Yuki nodded slowly in understanding at that, then smiled. "I'm sure one of the events will be horsemanship. I can't wait to see what they are capable of then." She paused, then smiled warmly as she looked at Liu Fei, "As well as you and your sister Shinjo-san. You both seem so comfortable on your horses that I'm certain we will all be awed by your display."

"So no dainty little housewife for Yuu-kun then?" Tomoe chuckled. "I will keep that in mind as I look around for a wife that can keep your feet on the ground."

Kogo blinks for a moment. Fun isn't the commonest Matsu word prior to gempukku... "Ano....I spend time with Noburu or my clan sibs. We go hunting sometimes. Bayushi-san tried to teach me the game of Go, but I am still very much a beginner."

"Go is the strategy game right? I've never really played anything like that. Was always more of a physical type when it came to playing. Races and physical competitions were always more my style," he says with a smile.

Kogo smiles back. "You like races? I was one of the swifter ones in my year for foot races." They weren't really for fun, but maybe they could be...
