What other non-electronic games do people play?

I really want to take up a card game, but I haven't found the right one for me.

This one collects Warhammer, Malifaux, Infinity, etc. - but doesn't play even though I really want to. I just don't have a fully assembled/painted force of any of the games.

I'm also going to be picking up the L5R LCG when it releases later this year... and have been eyeing either Star Wars Destiny or the Game of Thrones LCG.

As for board games - Caracassonne is good. Seven Wonders superb. Colt Express quick and fun.

L5R LCG scares me a bit.

When you say Warhammer, do you mean AOS, 40k, or are you a fantasy holdout?

AoS and 40k/30k. I never got into WFB; I didn't like the regimented style of game play, though I loved the models.

I'm holding out for thoughts on the L5R LCG until April 19th when previews start... and then I'll likely buy and play it anyways. I need to get out of the house more and these games are a good excuse.

If you want to get into a new game, I have an entire set of all the Doomtown Reloaded stuff sitting unopened from when I worked for AEG. I can just give it to you.

Won't have much of a following, but with the card base you'd have, you could create your own!

I'll be releasing my own game eventually (or sell it to a publisher at GenCon) and when that comes out, I'd be happy to send you a copy of it as well free of charge. It's like Mystic Vale (another good game in my opinion) in a way, but more competative and combative

Since I saw it mentioned several pages back...

Would the new players like us more "veteran" players to do a thread where we introduce ourselves, say who we have been in other games (so those who have played one or two games elsewhere can locate a friendly face)? Most of us want to help out the newcomers in having a good time here in our silly little playground, after all.

I also have a list of board games I want to try out... but it just seems like a good card game might be easier for a pick-up game or two on the fly. It does seem the Star Wars games are doing well, though.

Spartan are killing themselves with their ADHD to be honest. The standard with them is 6 months rapid releases and then ignore the game for 2 years with little to no communication with their playerbase. Not the best. They also make a lot (an AWFUL LOT) of promises that they never deliver on. Definitely not the best. They are losing fans in droves. The RAGEQUIT is strong on their forums.

DW has just had an expansion Kickstarter for which the Backerkit closed on Wednesday. I put in a minimal amount with the hopes they can deliver this on time (not going to happen as March is already gone) . . . ok in a timely manner and restore some honour to their reputation.

As a FG for DW I get to see a bit of the behind the scenes and the game is good, just the communication and delivery are poor.

Thinking about it, business deals within the Yasuki might be kinda boring for them:

How is Guild Ball? I was considering picking up the starter box to try (and to play with Tsukimi from time to time outside of playing at the local tore).

I also wanna grab some Bushido models to paint up... but not until I've refined my skills a bit more.
