important: Turns out it's been a while and there may be a missing image which can mess up some of the dialogue. In order to fix it, download this image and put it in the game's graphics directory! Hopefully that's the only bug.
Foreword:
So for those of you who have no idea what the hell this is: since Kyuden Agasha, I've been making comedic visual novels of my character telling stories about the things that have happened in Hollow Throne games. These visual novels take place in an alternate and non-canonical Hollow Throne universe. If you're unfamiliar with the concept of visual novels; they're basically light stories with pictures (as well as occasional animations) and music and a very limited degree of interactivity.
The latest VN concerns the events of the previous Hollow Throne game: Kyuden Suzume. You can find a link to it at the top of this post. If you want to check out the previous editions, you can find links below:
Instructions:
Click the above link appropriate for the operating system you use; then, on the website, select the browser download option to avoid third party junk.
When the file (which is unfortunately relatively big, I apologize) has downloaded, use a program like Winzip or Winrar to unpack it to a directory of your choosing. Navigate to the install directory and run the file "Kyuden_Suzume.exe"; the process will differ for Macintosh and Linux distributions, but I unfortunately have no way of testing how those work (or even if they work, please let me know)
After starting the 'game', interactivity is fairly limited. Text appears at the bottom of the screen, and when you've read it and are ready to move on, simply left click anywhere or press enter. For best results, you should *ONLY* do so when there is text showing at the bottom, as there are occasionally timed 'animations' that you might inadvertently pass by when you left click or press a key too soon.
Using the mousewheel, you can scroll up and down through some of text you've already been through, and the right mouse button takes you into the menu, where you can save and load the game.
Disclaimer:
All of the art in this was shamelessly traced over from other sources, though in some cases I made some minor alterations. I do not claim any of it as my own original work. Those of you who are into anime will no doubt recognize some of the original characters. The same applies to the music, which was taken from a bunch of different anime and sources.
Also! There's actually quite a lot of lines of script needed to make this, so it's entirely possible there's bugs here and there. Please either ignore them, or point them out in this thread for everyone to laugh at.
Also, I apologize if you were hoping for your character to show up and they didn't. It can be a lot of work to do these; and I don't have time to include all characters. This doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the interactions my characters had with yours at previous games! Who knows, you might show up in a future game!
Finally, and this is very important, everything in this game is meant in the best of ways. It can sometimes be difficult to anticipate how people will react to a joke or gag, and while it may seem funny and harmless in my head at the time of writing it could unintentionally cause offense. I sincerely hope that nobody ends up feeling hurt over anything that's in this game! If anyone does feel any doubts over something in the game, please don't hesitate to PM me about it so we can work things out.
Let's play shenanigans!
One of our new HT players is doing a Let's Play on youtube of the VN's, starting with the first one. They will get added to this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLva ... 3gPPVJdbKQ as she finishes them!
And last, someone asked for this, so I'm putting up links to the windows versions of the two VN's I did for Ferretverse as well. Find them below:
