Honestly, it was a bit of a PITA, though made a little easier by having the Bang! rule book to hand so I didn't have to invent new English phrases for some of the technical game terms. There's also a website where somebody's very roughly translated most of the card abilities, so I wasn't working from scratch--but those weren't always super easy to understand or fully consistent, and I wanted something my non-Mandarin-speaking friends could play right out of the box. Even having all that, it took me a fair number of hours and I speak and read the language fluently, more or less. It was enough work that I probably would not have bothered if I knew there was a commercial translation soon to be available (though having done it of course I've got a swollen head and think mine's more flavorful than theirs. ) So probably not a great beginner project to take on, especially if you're still learning the written characters and how to look them up--but playing Chinese games with a translation on hand could be a good way to practice recognizing characters!

I see. I am not even sure where to begin with attempting to learn at the moment. I've been practicing the 4 tones and even then I'm not correct. My natural speaking voice is too monotone and low pitched, so the first tone I'm automatically off according to my teacher from Taiwan. She says I need to raise my pitch higher and I don't even know how haha.

It just takes a super long time for those of us learning as adults, alas. Learning to hear yourself accurately helps a lot with tones, if that makes sense. I had a teacher once who used to make us record ourselves reading passages out loud for homework. You'd listen and hear all the places where you went wrong, so then you couldn't turn that one in, so you'd go around again... Repetitive drills like that are frustrating, but eventually effective, at least for me.

Norubu is very well behaved, I will have you know. Eating only occurs if offense is granted, and I'm sure the noble Asahi and other pets will treat her with the dignity she deserves.
