If we could all be so lucky to be friends with our spouses, but as she is not that it would be inappropriate to have babies with her. She'll make whatever choice she wishes when the miai ends.

I seem to recall from Secrets of the Unicorn that lineage has held more importance than politics for Unicorn-marriages, as Shinjo instructed her followers to not marry "too close". So the Ide has kept very careful track on family lineages to help samurai avoid marrying someone they might be related to (hence why many Unicorn samurai took spouses who were not members of the Unicorn, because it was a sure way to avoid it).

One of the examples there was that a Unicorn samurai might refuse to marry an Asahina because their ancestor had married an Isawa in the past (and the Asahina trace their ancestry to the Isawa).
