I have sorted all the cards I own, still not sure if I should just throw away all the extra duplicates (some cards have enough duplicates to verify deckbackers).

Sorting cards isn't all that difficult once you find your system. Strategies are the worst though.

I personally wouldn't spend 1000usd on it.

Make your prototype cheap!

If it's more than $100, you're tossing money away.

Any game company worth going into business with is going to care more about the mechanics than the visuals.

Print on transparent paper and call it good.

If it's a prototype, it's more important to sell it on good mechanics, interesting gameplay and fun times, than the correct kind of glossy cardboard.
