[Day1: LM: Open] Fortune Telling Booth

[Yuzuki]

"Yuzuki, of the Mantis clan."

She looked back to the fortune teller for a moment, then to the higher-status Unicorn.

"I meant your village as in... uh... the Unicorn's village. It'd be kind of weird to have a tax on fortune telling or anything, but it's not my place to tell you how to run things here."

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

"The Mantis?"

Chi-Pu looks confused again, her eyes looking up and to the left as if trying to recall some distant memory.

"I do not believe I am familiar with that name. Moshi either."

She motions to the woman reading divination.

"Also, I do not have the ability to tax anyone. My authority is on the battlefield."

[Yuzuki]

"We are the Mantis Clan. Oldest of the minor clans. Our founder is Kaimetsu-Uo, son of Osano-Wo who is the Fortune of Fire and Thunder. We live on the islands in the east."

She kept it as simple as she could, mostly because she would probably get things wrong if she went into detail, but also because the Unicorn might not understand.

"The Moshi are of the Centipede. Another minor clan. They're shugenja, but I don't really know much more than that."

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

Chi-Pu nods at the Mantis's explanation.

"Thank you, Mantis-san. I would be interested in hearing about your home sometime, as I was born at the great ocean far to the west before the Unicorn began their journey home. "

Chi-Pu points to Yuzuki's hips.

"But for now, could you explain what it is those are?"

[Yuzuki]

"Huh?"

She looked down.

And back up.

"Oh. These are Kama," she said. Which probably didn't really explain much.

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

Chi-Pu just blinks, waiting for further explanation.

[Yuzuki]

She stared back. Uncertain if further explanation was required.

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

Chi-Pu blinks at the woman and then asks

"Mantis-San, what are Kama?"

[Yuzuki]

"Weapons. They're pretty useful to have on a ship. Which is why a lot of Mantis carry them."

[Otaku Chi-Pu]

Chi-Pu looks skeptical, but shrugs.

"I see. So, how are you this morning? Did you just arrive at the village?"

While the two talk, Chi-Pu glances quickly over at the Moshi and Togashi, keeping an eye on the interaction.

[Togashi Udo]

(Roll a random number from 1 to 100)

She opened the box and it was filled with a 100 sticks. "Choose a stick, Togashi sama." She motioned to pick a stick.

(Sorry about the delay, just drove for six hours)

Udo picks up a stick without a thought, as he firmly believes is best. He is entranced enough by what is to happen that he is able to easily zone out the other two here.

Udo examines the stick. "This is a fine one, I think." There was nothing special about it, really, but it seemed he had made the right choice.

[Moshi Asakiko]

"16. Yü (Enthusiasm) It furthers one to install helpers and to set armies marching." She looked closely at the lines "Enthusiasm that expresses itself brings misfortune but the source of enthusiasm achieves great things. Doubt not as you gather friends around you like a hair clasp gathers the hair." She smiled. and placed the stick back into the box. "As a Dragon you must understand how mysterious the fortunes are."

[Togashi Udo]

"I do, and yet I found this one particularly telling. Thank you, Moshi-san."

He again grew cognizant of those around him. "Perhaps others wish to hear as well?"

Udo stood and began to contemplate his fortune.

[Moshi Asakiko]

She gave the Dragon a polite bow. "Mantis sama, I hope you didn't mind Dragon sama. I apologize for any inconvenience it might have caused." She stared up to the Otaku. "If you wish Otaku sama I can read your fortune after Mantis sama." She nodded. "Unless you want something more intimate."

[Yuzuki]

"I did," she told the unicorn, before being mentioned by her fellow minor clanner.

Fortune eh?

Well, Yuzuki sometimes knew what the future brought as well, but it couldn't hurt to get a second opinion, could it?

"Hmmm," she pointed at the bag of coins. "Let's see what's what with those."
