Player had Secret Love from gamestart then. *shrug* Can't exactly prepare for story-based Disadvantages like Secret Love/Secret Enemy/Sworn Enemy. I don't think Kaizen was prepared for the possibility of what happened, but at least knew it was a possibility to change his story and play significantly when he chose Sworn Enemy.

It certainly gives a new dynamic to the Hideo/Amaya ship. Do their duty and go with the new spouses, or go ronin in protest to be together?

Not exactly what I mean. Someone who takes or earns Secret Love/Sworn Enemy/etc knows it's on their sheet. They don't know when it will happen, or how, or what the fallout will be, but they know it will happen.

It's not my secret love, so I got something of a shock.
