The lineage of Butaj begins with one of the bastard sons of Hida bore by a geisha who was said to have the most beautiful voice. Upon learning who his father was he confronted the Kami who he wrestled to a standstill. Rather than openly declare this son he sent him to the sands to seek allies against the 9th Kami. There he got caught in a sandstorm and was struck in the head.
The ancestors of the modern Moto found the demigod among them who had lost his memory. They gave him the name Butaj and he joined their tribe. He was the first of many in a long line of bastard sons who each generation are given the name Butaj. Of the Butaj nothing is expected, which is why they always surprise and live to sing songs of their legend and charm a maiden with which to sire the next great Butaj...
