(D6 LM Open) - Working the Fields

[Yasuki Tomonaga]

Tomonaga grinned. "Yes! Good! Comparing the Unicorn women to flowers! That's much, much better than comparing them to goats. I think we're on the right track, now."

He gave Udo a sudden sharp look. "Well... part of the miai is getting to spend time with them, meet them, find out who you're compatible with, that sort of thing. You've been doing that, right?" Tomonaga grinned, stepping a little closer. "Udo-san... ummm... let me know if you need any tips, eh? Not a slight on you at all." He added hurriedly. "But, well, I'm pretty good at that sort of thing."

[Togashi Udo]

"Tips... Tips for choosing someone, yes. What good are kind words and romantic gestures when you're not feeling the feelings? Maybe, if married already, but I don't even know who that will be to. I'm afraid that my reserved nature in love is getting the better of me here, but I appreciate the offer."

[Yasuki Tomonaga]

"Well..." Tomonaga said. "It's about exploring possibilities. You have to do those things to get to know someone, to know if they would make a good match. I mean, it's all very well if you can talk to someone about light things, but what if you and your wife freeze up every time you compliment each other? That wouldn't do. Although the first part's important, too."

"Hmmm. Reserved is a problem." Tomonaga tapped his lips thoughtfully with one finger as he studied Udo. "Compliment my eyes." He said suddenly.

His eyes are very nice, in fact, a deep brown, rich and soft.

[Togashi Udo]

Udo blinks twice. "Your eyes seem very perceptive, Tomonaga-sama."

Deer in headlights.

[Yasuki Tomonaga]

Tomonaga demonstrated this perceptiveness by rolling them dramatically. "Yes, but what do they remind you of? How do they make you feel? What do you think you could compare them to, so that I'd know how they made you feel?"

He hesitated a moment. "Ah... all speaking as though I were a Unicorn woman, of course."

[Togashi Udo]

"...and nothing about goats in this compliment?"

Udo laughs.

[Yasuki Tomonaga]

Tomonaga grinned. "If you come up with one about goats that can make a woman swoon, I'm all for it. But... yeah, I'd call that an advanced lesson."

He gestures for the monk to go ahead.

[Togashi Udo]

Udo narrows his eyes, trying to figure out if this is some trick. After awhile, he laughs awkwardly. "Sure, okay."

He looks up into the sky as if searching for something. "Your eyes are like the clouds. One could pass the day looking at them, and never cease to find something new, and if there should ever come a storm... the mountains would shelter you."

Then he blushes and looks down. "I think this may be ridiculous."

[Yasuki Tomonaga]

Tomonaga listened as Udo said his words, his lips pressed tightly together, his eyebrows up. He managed to stifle laughter as Udo looked down again. "You're right, it is ridiculous! But really, that's the most important thing about this. You can't be afraid to be ridiculous. You need to take risks, like battle, but the cost of failure is rejection and embarrassment, and those heal faster than sword wounds."

"But you did well." Tomonaga said agreeably. "Next time, make sure to look into the woman's eyes, though, eh? That's really important. But..." He grinned. "Maybe we'd better call it there for now, anyway. I won't strain you any further." He looked up at the sky. "Besides, I need to get back, wash up. The next event will be soon."

[Togashi Udo]

"Well, thank you for your help. And for helping in the fields. We shall talk soon." Udo bows to him and goes back to work.

[Yasuki Tomonaga]

Tomonaga returned the bow. "It was a pleasure, Udo-san." He hesitated a moment, and then added: "And thank you again, for the advice. Now, and before, about Yukarin. I want you to know-" He said, his expression serious, "-that I will not throw away my shot."

And with one last bow, he turned and left.
