(Day 5, LM) Theological Introductions

[Miya Mei]

"Oh my, it sounds like quite the affair. I loom forward to the events. I wonder, are all Unicorn miais so..."

Mei struggles to find a word for a moment.

"Grand?" she finnaly settles on

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"Miai's are kind of a new thing for us. First time I've ever seen one," he replies. "There haven't been any that I'm aware of."

[Miya Mei]

"Oh, I see. Well, from the sounds of it, your clan has taken to the custom quiet well. How usually do you pick a spouse?"

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"This feels a bit more formal than the normal way. Usually the only thing we have concern for is marrying someone you are related to. Even if it's distantly related. We have pretty strict rules on not marrying within the same bloodlines. Some marry for the strategy of making sure they are far separated, some marry someone they care for, and some marry for convenience."

[Miya Mei]

"An interesting rule, though I could understand the need for it. Luckily, having been gone for so long, the Empire has hardly anyone save for the Kitsune who might share ancestors with you."

"But enough about clans, traditions, ancestors, and the like. A Miai is about getting to know people to find a good match. Tell me about yourself, Shijo-san"

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"I recently finished my gempukku, and was sent here. I trained a bit in scouting while I was there... hunting, trailblazing and the like. I intend to focus my martial training on mounted archery and have been taking to the study of theology for a bit now. I like being active, have pretty good luck and enjoy helping people when I can. I mean... I can't really encapsulate what it is to be me in a few sentences but those are some specific points you might be interested. If you want to know anything else feel free to ask, I'm an open book," he says with a smirk.

"And yourself? What makes Miya Mei the correct choice for would be spouses?"

[Miya Mei]

She hums for a moment.

"Where to begin..Well, I am part of the Imperial families, which many would consider a blessing. I value the tenants of bushido, and practice martial training daily. My specialty is primarily Iaijutsu, which I excelled in well enough to be gifted my senseis ancestral blade when he passed."

She tals Meng on her hip.

"I am familiar in the ways of the horse unlike most in the Empire, as my family name demands it. I am also a skilled archer. I enjoy finer things, such as dance and poetry, though my own art is that of the Tea Ceremony."

"Last, I enjoy my way around the courts of the Empire, and find enjoyment in the courtiers games."

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"Ah, courtier's games. Something I am wholly incapable of understanding at the moment. I really need more practice and study with that," he replies. "It sounds like you've got a wide array of interesting skills and talents."

[Miya Mei]

"Just the skills my sensei trained me in. He was from the Crane, Kakita specifically, the same family as this shrine honors. They are known for their wide breadth of skills. I have in mind some others I would like to learn someday."

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"The Kakita seem to have a tradition of excellence," he states with a nod. "It seems a blessing you had the opportunity to train with them."

[Miya Mei]

"All of the families of the Empire have their own pursuits of excellence. I look forward to learning the Unicorns"

She glances back at the priests

"You said you han an interest in theology?"

[Shinjo Monkhbaatar]

"Yes. I'm hoping to expand my understanding and knowledge. My training as a bushi didn't cover it, but I'm hoping to change that," he says with a nod.

[Miya Mei]

"It is something I do not know much on either. "

She turns to the priests still in their prayers.

"Perhaps the priests will finish soon and we can learn from them"

[Kakita Nanami]

The Kakita rose as she finished her offering and quiet prayers with a flourish, ensuring no mud stuck to her clothes.

Her eyes widened a little at the sight of the Miya; she had heard a new voice but paid little attention to it before finishing the praters. She bowed politely to the duelist in blue, looking for the mons, "Ah, Miya-sama. I was unaware any of the Emperor's heralds were here at miai."

[Miya Mei]

Mei returns the bow.

"Miya Mei, Kakita-san, and Herald only in part. All my official training has been at your families academy."

She motions to the Shinjo.

"Have you met Shinjo-san?"
