Escaping the Rain (Day 4, EE)

[Shinjo Akil]

Akil seemed surprised that she would step closer, though he wouldn't step away himself. "Well, um," his face was starting to redden deeply. "I think you are rather attractive, and generous, and..." he frowned. I'm being stupid. "And no matter how things happen, I want to be able to see you after this miai."

[Doji Fukawa]

Fukawa turned around to save the Shinjo the embarrassment of losing face...but didn't walk away just yet.

"I hope so too, Akil-san....although I suppose that depends on what colors we end up wearing at the end of the miai. not all clans are as friendly to others as the Unicorn and the Crane." she admits.

[Shinjo Akil]

He nodded. "It is, as you say." His hand reached out a moment, but stopped well short lf her and returned, and he took a breath as he recomposed himself. "I apologize if I was improper in that moment, Fukawa-san. My behavior this evening has not been to the standard you have no doubt come to expect from me."

[Doji Fukawa]

Fukawa turns back to the recomposed Unicorn.

"Do not concern yourself over it, Akil-san." she replies. "You have brought no shame to your family."

[Shinjo Akil]

"Your reassurance is valued," he smiled. "Do you have any martial training at all?" He looked out to the dojo, "it seems a mild shame to have this space and not be using it at all."

[Doji Fukawa]

Fukawa shakes her head.

"I do not." she admits honestly. "I wouldn't mind watching you go through your kata though, if you were of a mind to demonstrate them."

[Shinjo Akil]

"It will not be that impressive compared to my flute playing, but if you would wish I can show some of the skill i still retain," he nodded, smiling lightly as he spied out a shinai.

[Doji Fukawa]

Fukawa made herself comfortable sitting in seiza position to see what the Unicorn would do.

[Shinjo Akil]

Akil took a deep breath, holding his sword in a traditional kenjutsu stance. His swings were quick and precise, though perhaps a bit slowed from the smaller wounds combined with the one that never healed. Still, there is no doubt that​ his form is excellent, a sure sign of a man who may have had some potential with the blade before destiny changed his course.

[Doji Fukawa]

The performance was somewhat lost on Fukawa. Here was a perfectly good person, who learned how to hurt people, and was hurt in return. Hurt badly enough to never heal. Granted, he had saved a daimyo's life, but still that pain would be with him until he died. But if she could sit through Noh theater without rolling her eyes, she could endure kata demonstrations.

All said and done, Akil approached her again and bowed. "That must have been terribly boring compared to an artistic display," he offered in a self deprecating tone.

[Doji Fukawa]

Fukawa rose and bowed to the Unicorn.

"There is a certain grace in your movements, Akil-san." she offered. "But I can also see your wounds troubling you."

[Shinjo Akil]

He nodded. "There are blessings to the wound. I was never an exceptional bushi anyway," he shook his head, "having more time to play my flute is in it's own way a grand blessing."
