SHINJO EVENT: Egg Hunt (D4, Late Morning)

After rooting around for a number of eggs, Takeo found himself with three. Knowing this number would impress no one, he became more adventurous and decided to scrounge up more. In the process, he dropped the three he had gathered so far.

Feeling entirely crest-fallen, he picked up one lone egg and wandered back with it, so dejected that he couldn't even be bother to mind the weasel that nipped at his heel.

[Ryuuta Tsume]

"What a lovely morning!"

Unaware of the dire threat Ryuuta Tsume wanders hither and yon, picking up eggs with inexpert but prosperous fingers. She waves happily and chats with the others nearby, in no way prepared for the onslaught that is to come.

Each time she bends down Tsume seems to come back with an egg, but after just barely spotting the fourth one and realizing how difficult it is to hold six eggs while walking she decides that's probably enough and without a care in the world she begins to walk back across the field.

She never saw what hit her.

Her training flees from her mind as the creatures nearly knock her to the ground in their ravenous rage. (Void spent to reduce damage to 0)

"Shelter! The ground is alive!"

Tsume runs for the village away from the horrid furry wyrms.

[Kitsune Kumahime]

An egg hunt? It's been a long time since she's done one of those. And with real eggs, too? Huh. For training, they always just used river stones.

She makes a respectable showing, gathering a good number of eggs, when suddenly, weasels! Wretched pests. The Fox guards her winnings, beating them off with one arm, crushing the creatures underfoot and under her own weight, standing her ground against this foe. There shall be no mercy!

Some time later, she drags herself in, drenched in blood, not all of it her own, one eye swollen shut, the extent of the damage not yet clear. But her eggs are safe.

[Moto Baatar]

While the earlier samurai had snatched up the most visible of the purple-dyed eggs, Moto Baatar's keen sense of smell led him to one egg after another that had been missed by the other searchers. The sulfurous fragrance of the rotten eggs reminded the young Unicorn of his grandmother's cooking; ahhh, the delicious "hundred-year" eggs that she had used to make! Baatar smiled at the thought. He had really regretted when grandma had died of a stomach bug. (Probably unrelated to her cooking? Yeah, it had to be coincidence.)

The sudden movement in the grass around him didn't escape his attention, though; Baatar had learned the hard way that being given a lunch and getting to keep it were two different things altogether when bigger, stronger boys were around. The young Moto began running even before the weasels broke from the brush to chase after him.

Thinking quickly, Baatar hurled one of the largest and stinkiest eggs right in front of the pursuing weasels. "Here, take one!" he yelled. "Now leave me alone!"

The weasels fell upon the shattered eggshells and began fighting over the gooey yellow substance within. Meanwhile, Baatar beat feet towards the camp with his remaining eggs.

The tiny Moshi should have stay working in her tent as she had tried her best to find eggs. Seems like the terrain didn't help her as every time she dropped her eggs from her tiny hands. She didn't have to bother that much about the weasels

[Seppun Hitako]

Hitako was sent on this obviously very important task by the Shinjo overseers. And wondered at what exactly they had encountered out in the world, that this was something they came up with and brought back.

She wasn't that skilled at hunting, but knew it was a task for the Seppun, so tried her best. She then headed back, having found a bounty of 4 eggs in the time given.

She did not realize how dangerous carrying eggs back could be, but was grateful for the lessons she had gotten from the Lion and Unicorn the other day. It stood her in good stead this day, as she suddenly used the steps she had been taught to avoid the very attack of the maddened weasel!

She knew she hadn't scored the most, but that was okay. She had managed to accomplish the task, and felt she was closer to understanding something of using the blade she carried by her side, at least the first steps of it!

Search for what's hidden but easily accessible? Why yes, this bookish scribe will participate...

Takashi purposefully avoids crowding other searchers and moves slowly, methodically, through the event area. As some participants get frustrated and depart, or gather eggs quickly and draw extra attention from the roving packs of weasels, Takashi moves with a patience bordering on stealth. When the weasels come for him, he's as ready as he can be. He swats at them with open hand and katana, taking some serious scratches but striking down a couple of weasels in reply.

As the event is preparing to close down, Takashi arrives exhausted, scratched, and disheveled, but with his carefully guarded eggs all intact.

[Doji Ameka]

Gathering the eggs wasn't too bad aside from the somewhat ripe smell of them that had begun to permeate the field. Ameka did her best to avoid wrinkling her nose as she searched. She moved slowly and lifted the bottom of her kimono as she searched. The mode of dress that went along with her career wasn't really suitable for hunting around a field and she occasionally had to brush off an aphid or seven as she worked.

In fact, she was doing just that as she hunted through the grass when her hand brushed to the side and bumped into something... warm? And furry. She looked to her right and found herself meeting eyes with a weasel. There was a moment's pause as Ameka looked confused and the weasel realized it had been spotted before a small group of the creatures lunged at her.

She squeaked - quietly, she would hope later - and dodged, a claw scraping her lightly as she did. She hurried away from the attacking creature, delivering the eggs while fervently thinking, Ohhhh no no no no no, don't be infected...
