D2, EE - Checkups (outside Yukarin's yurt)

[Togashi Udo]

"A curiosity... Yes, that is a good word for what's happening here." Udo's eyes twinkled with laughter.

"I think when I next wish to see you, I shall do so with a simple puzzle. A scavenger hunt, of sorts."

[Iuchi Yukarin]

She tilted her head thoughtfully a moment before giving a nod, "Curiouser and curiouser. Well, that is certainly something to look forward to I suppose."

[Togashi Udo]

"Now that you've returned to the Empire, is there anything you are looking forward to seeing?"

[Iuchi Yukarin]

Yukarin fanned her arm out, "Everything really. Well, everything in the Empire proper at least; I don't think I need a tour south of the Wall or of the depths of the Shinomen. I suppose, if anything, I'd want to see some of the famous buildings and cities though."

[Togashi Udo]

"Have you been to the dojo? It is a nice traditional architecture."

He thinks. "It is interesting how the different Clans set up their cities, and the way it reflects the Clan's personality. For example, this," he gestures to the Yurt behind her, "is not something you'll see in any other Clans."

[Iuchi Yukarin]

"Hai, I imagine not. And I have been by the dojo; It is the only Rokugani building I have seen so far in person, and it is a vastly interesting look into both Rokugani architecture and the Lion more specifically. ...now I want to study it further."

She grins softly, chin in hand as she says this.

[Togashi Udo]

"Well, if you would like company, I'd be happy to go with you whenever you desire. I can't speak too much on architecture, but I find that enjoyment is often heightened by sharing it with someone else."

"Dark Edge Village is not a place of entertainment, so one must find their interests in the people and the events of the gracious Unicorn."

[Iuchi Yukarin]

"It is no different than being on a long journey in that regard; Perhaps that too is something for my Clan to learn to embrace. As to your offer... I accept. We can meet and check it out in a few days time, if that works for you."

[Togashi Udo]

"Most certainly. I shall look forward to it."

After a moment, "I shall leave you back to your book for now. I am very glad you are feeling better, Iuchi-san."

[Iuchi Yukarin]

"At least partially thanks to you, Togashi-sama; Do not forget that."

She paused a moment before bowing, stopping herself.

"You did say something earlier about the book; You were interested in looking at it?"

[Togashi Udo]

Udo smiles. "I definitely am, if you have time to show me."

[Iuchi Yukarin]

"I believe I do..."

Yukarin sat down and picked the book back up, "Though I am not sure how much there is to show; I know it was traded into my family's care in the second century, and that it's been cared for but never payed attention to; Mundane artifacts from other cultures have never been an interest of the mystics in my family when there are Rokugani texts and awoken items to look after. I am only fairly certain what laguage it is in even, and then only because of basic script recognition."

Inside the pages were yellowed with age but intact, no tears or chips in the parchment evident. It was definitely old and not in Rokugani, the script a beautiful flowing series of lines that were interspersed with dots.

[Togashi Udo]

Udo sat down next to her and looked at the book.

"It does look old... and fragile. For it to have survived so long through the journeys of your Clan... your family must have taken great care of it, even if they did not treasure it."

(I assume it's basically like Arabic?)

[Iuchi Yukarin]

Yukarin gave a small nod, "Well, I guess fastidiousness runs in our blood. And, if nothing else, it might have had value some time in the future."

The writing was in Mekhem, the script of the sands. Everything about it was odd to Rokugani eyes from the way the writing seemed to be sideways, to the way the characters seemed to flow together.

"That said, none of that helps me a lick in trying to understand it of course."

"That is odd. You don't know any of it? None of the sounds or words?"
