When you're reading a book that you think has flaws but are overall enjoying and then the protagonist stumbles upon a sex-goddess in the woods who whisks him away and delays the main plot by 90 pages...

I've never read anything by Rothfuss (but I haven't read *anything* in ages).
The man could be the worst writer ever for all I know, but I'll still love him forever for Viari though.

My biggest complaint about the Kingkiller Chronicles (The Name of the Wind, A Wise Man's Fears) is how much time is spent discussing money. The protagonist is perpetually broke, spends pages discussing how he has to scrape together money to survive, inevitably comes into a large amount of money and has it catastrophically whisked away from him so he is reduced to scrapping together pennies again.
Otherwise, it's quite good. The magic system is rather enjoyable.
EDIT: Oh, also the sex goddess who legitimately seems to serve no purpose other than to push towards a page count.
