Day 8 [EA] Strolling Through The Park (Khulun's Yurt)

[Moto Khulun]

“Another Scorpion hero?” she counters.

[Bayushi Suteichi]

"Not...really. This is a fictional tale altogether. It is written by one of my favorite authors. Her name is Asako Chidori. I met her once and she signed my copy. Wonderful woman. You two have a lot in common, quite spirited."

[Moto Khulun]

"She is strong warrior?" She asks.

[Bayushi Suteichi]

"I can lone you a copy and let you read for yourself."

[Soshi Taira]

Taira listened in silence, shaking his head.

"Such men make a difficult act to follow."

Stepping back, he let the two talk, making a quiet withdrawal.

His puppy took the chance to latch onto his kimono, being dragged behind.

[Moto Khulun]

"I can lone you a copy and let you read for yourself."

“Not much of a reader,” she says in refusal.

[Bayushi Suteichi]

"Fair enough Moto-sama. Just remember, the sword needs a whetstone to stay sharp and the mind needs books to stay sharp."

[Moto Khulun]

“But it’s boring, just sitting there reading and reading,” she says.

“You read the books, it sounds like, what happens?”

[Bayushi Suteichi]

"Why yes Moto-sama." Suteichi answered as he offered her another manju. "Books give one new insight to many of things. Books contain knowledge, enhance knowledge. Stories of heroism and villainy can inspire one to greater things. I despise saying that books make you wiser. I am not a wise man and I do not wish to be one. I read to learn as I learn so I live."

[Moto Khulun]

"But these books, why read this book? It's not even real person right? So someone just made this up?" she says trying to understand.

"Why not book about real hero?"

[Bayushi Suteichi]

"The same could be said for a book a real villain. Tell me Moto-sama, in conflict there are two sides. Who determines the right and the wrong? Who is the hero and who is the villain of the story?" He leaned a little closer.

"A little known secret, fact or fiction all stories and their players come from somewhere at some point at some time. It is the author, the teller, the reader, and the audience to really decide who is the hero and who is villain. They ultimately decide whose cause was righteous and whose cause was unjust. "

[Moto Khulun]

“Stories of Moto are true, we have ten thousand heroes and we sing of them,” she replies.

“It is known who is hero and who is villain.” She frowns and says, “Not interested in story of villains, we have enough of those already.”

[Bayushi Suteichi]

Suteichi tapped his chin and gave her a slight wry smile.

"The once was the lord of great renown. He was wealthy, his army knew no defeat, he had a beautiful wife, kids...his lands and rule were expanding. There were so many tales and songs of his heroism and deeds. He had the love and support of his people. One day, his ships were sabotaged. Someone had smashed holes and cut sails. Then, food and water supplies were poisoned. It was not long before his military and people were getting sick and dying. One night, a man snuck into the lord's house and killed the lord and killed his infant child. He was not a great warrior. He had no lands, no wealth at all to speak of. All he had was this drive to see this lord dead. As he tried to flee, guards captured him. He was then executed for his crimes. The people were outraged but justice was served. Tell me this Moto-sama, from what I told you, do you think the man who did all that was the villain and deserved to die?"

[Moto Khulun]

"Just sounds like he had a shit life," she says.

[Bayushi Suteichi]

"You...could say that... what if I told you that the man who had the shit life was one of the people the lord enslaved? Who had his wife taken from him by the lord? Who's the hero now?"
