For the spare timeslots, can you repeat the same part (so 3x etiquette or 3x commerce) or is it expected to do a mix of both?

Anything happen if you fail the very last slot? I assume you're just finished as you can't roll again?

You still have to use a time segment on the first part to learn the language.

I added a line to that part that should describe failures in more detail. :)

Squiggly Lines and Weird Shapes: Before the character can do much else, they must first attempt to understand the language that has been put in front of them. Understanding the language requires a Calligraphy (Any Cipher)/Intelligence Roll against TN 15. A character with the Precise Memory advantage gains +1k1 on this roll. A knowledge of other languages is also helpful to this process; for every additional language a character speaks beyond Rokugani, they gain +1k0 to this roll.

As this is described as a written language with strange characters that you are learning, is the Forgery skill of any use here?

Does it make a difference if you are Literate (3 points) vs only a speaker (1 point) in the additional languages for the first part?

If, say, someone cannot read at all no matter what, is it still possible to compete?

In that case, the Ide feel very awkward and will have someone read the questions to you.

Same roll, just special, awkward treatment.

The loss of points only kicks on for redo attempts.
