In the grand scheme of things this isn't a horrible loss, but it is a pretty damn terrible roll, considering I made 15 with only 3 dice on the two rolls previous, and they weren't allowed to explode!

It's not super terrible.... But I had 18 dice in my bout v. Butaj and not a single one exploded. All three rolls were below the average outcome for 6k3. Orokos was kind enough to make me lose 2 of those rolls by 1, just to rub it in.

It's true that misery loves company. After a 19 needing a 20 blew up dinner (difference between 8 points and 3), I dropped 33% of my rolls today: all of which were 82% or better chance of success. So instead of 8-9 event points, 5. And if I'm doing this well where my dice pools are good... I'm guessing the Otaku and Moto events are going to hurt.

Through Orokos loving care, I was rolling 9k3, and should hit 25 74% of the time. I got 20, exactly. Twice. Irritating! Went from potentially 10 points to a whopping -2.
Meanwhile, the fluff roll for lighting a fire with no void explodes 4k3 to 40.

I rolled 50 on 4k4 to see if the sake my character had been drinking put her to sleep.
I need to start putting "Very Important Critical Event Roll for CP" on my fluff rolls, and describing my event rolls in the most flippant ways I can think of. Hey, it works for Butaj.
