Dark Edge Village

Suteichi woke from what was a very long night. He went to get water for cleaning and overheard servants talking. A very distinct glare was on his face as he heard them. He got the water and entered his Yurt to bathe in the bucket. Once that was done, he got dressed sat outside to read and to hear if anything else came up.

Having finished her morning rituals, Mei walked casually though the makeshift streets drawn up by the spaces between the yurs.

"This looks more like a war camp than a village"

She mused aloud to no one in particular.

Finally, after minutes of aimless wandering, she spots someone and begins to approach them.

"Good morning, Bayushi-san"

She bows to the man when he turns to face her.

Suteichi stood and bowed deeply to her. "A blessed morning to you, samurai-sama... hmm.. ah Miya-sama. Please pardon." He greeted and bowed again. "An honor to meet an Imperial at this gathering. This one is Bayushi Suteichi."

"Miya Mei. I believe you are the first Scorpion I have met. It is always a pleasure"

"Has your morning been well?"

"The day just got started and is full of surprises. Please, won't you sit with me? I have some, daifuku. Would you like some?" he politely offered, perfect etiquette and courtesy shown to her.

"Indeed, let us hope a bit less eventful than yesterday."

Mei nods at the offer, a slight smile at the corners of her mouth for a moment.

"That sounds lovely, thank you!"

Suteichi nodded.

"Please enjoy. So, I was rather impressed with your performance the other day. You sang to Shinjo....Kemuri-sama?"

"I did. We seemed to have hit it off well enough, and since I had arrived late I thought that it was best to accept the first match that seemed promising."

"Luckily enough for me, after we have discussed much together, it seems we will be a good match."

Mei looks around the camp and towards the village center for a moment.

"Miai are strange things in a way. Within a period of 10 days, everyone whose attended entire life will change."
