"Kon," she had her cat curled up in her arms, petting him as she sat on her bed.

"Eli's coming."

"I wish it'd stop."

Too bad the puns caused more pain than blades... but nobody would believe him.

Still, Taira came, to check up on his miracle patient.

Eli's coming.

On and on the voices went. Only occasionally letting up. By itself nothing new, but today they'd been rather monotonous. And insistent. She sighed, and then she heard a noise out by the entrance to her yurt.

"Is someone there?"

I wonder if it's Eli.

"Come in."

"Good evening, Yuzuki-san."

Taira entered, pushing the yurt flaps aside.

"I was checking up."

"Oh, Soshi-san, thank you."

Kon stared at Taira, the cat's On far more securely in place than that of a samurai could ever be.

"I feel much better today. Muscle's still stiff in a few places, and such. But the worst seems in the past."

"I... can only assume you got additional aid."

Or heal inhumanly fast.

"I'm glad to hear that you are recovered. I would still like to be sure you're recovered."

"Yes, Fairuz-sama called upon the Kami for me."

Eli's coming.

"I'm not entirely sure how such things work. But I imagine your own work was just as important in making sure the injuries heal properly."

"Perhaps... sometimes the kami are uncertain what to do, so a medical reference is useful."

Or at least, he told himself that.

Sitting, he added, "They do speed the process greatly."

She nodded. "Are you here to check the bandages?"

"Hai."

What else?

"You did get back on your feet quickly."

"Well aside from the help, Mantis are tough," she said, adopting a position that would allow him to do his docterly task.

So he did.

Only when he was done removing the bandages and binding new ones, he had a nagging feeling he had done something wrong.

"Eto... does that feel all right?"

"Still a little stiff," she said. "I'm guessing that'll pass with some more rest?"

"Is it better or worse..."

He was trying to figure out what was bothering him.

"Hmm... about the same? Not better, or worse really."
