Not quite ghost Mantis (Day 5, EA, Yuzuki's yurt)

Taira came directly to the Mantis's yurt after his... meeting, earlier in the day.

Because of that, his mood was not what it could be.

Still, he knew she needed treatment, and she had shown a great deal of courage and resolve, so he didn't think it fair for his own issues to interfere with her treatment.

Arriving at the yurt, he tapped the frame, announcing his presence, before looking inside to see if any servants or the like were keeping watch.

Yuzuki's respose was a weak "Enter...";

Her injuries were, almost surely, still significant. And so here she was, resting. Being generally incapable of doing much good out there anyway.

"Soshi-san?"

"Hai. Soshi Taira. I am a doctor."

He stepped into the yurt, so she could see him clearly.

"I thought I could see to your wounds. It is only fair after you suffered them so nobly..."

"Right..."

Her voice indicated she was in a good deal of pain as she tried to sit up.

"I suppose I have you to thank for me not being dead?"

"I think you have whatever good fortune you earned in a past life."

He dug around the yurt, until he found it, under the soggy towels they'd used to dry her off.

Holding up a shard of armor... unicorn armor... he turned it slowly in the light. It was horribly deformed, bent and cracked by the trauma it had suffered.

"This was wedged against your spine. I'm fairly sure it is part of a larger part that broke... instead of you."

It was, undoubtedly, a shard left from the armor of Chi-pu. He'd had it cleansed last night.

"All I did was patch you up as well as I could, but time is an important factor in healing, and I am no shugenja."

She looked at it, a bit confused as to how that could've happened. But then, everything had been a bit of a haze.

"What *did* happen? My memories aren't very clear."

He considered that.

"Otaku-shiryo was being held, crushed, and it released her just in time to tear her near in two with a single bite... and then it whipped about and clawed you. It happened in the blink of an eye. I can only guess some of her armor had broken off and stuck in its claws. It was, by all accounts, a miracle."

Shrugging, he pulled up a stool, and began to rummage about his satchel, making sure he had the right supplies to treat 'near bifurcation'.

"Did we win? Where's the Orochi now? Nobody's told me. Did it see reason once it had calmed down?"

She watched him rummage around as she fired off her questions in quick succession.

"It did not. It is dead."

He raised an eyebrow. "Don't strain, Mantis-san... I don't want you to hurt yourself... you might finish yourself off."

"Damn, I thought maybe we could've calmed it down. That's... that's a real shame."

"Not as much of a shame as the death of an innocent woman, but hai, it was a random, cruel thing to have happen."

Fetching out bandages, he also began to pull out small bamboo rods.

Yes... he'd probably be binding her back, just to be on the safe side.

She would allow the Soshi to do whatever he felt medically necessary. He was a doctor after all, and he had proven himself last night.

"Yes, you're... right of course. I didn't, really know her. I met her just once, but she seemed a good sort even then."

"Hai..."

Taira set to work quietly, trying to bind the wounds, but they were so extensive, and so bizarre, he didn't make very good headway. Perhaps the curse of Orokos still clung to him?

So Orokos is gonna keep getting even it seems... failed the medicine roll. http://orokos.com/roll/508261

Yuzuki didn't notice an immediate improvement, but assumed that regular non-magical healing was just like that, needing time to take effect. Surely the doctor knew exactly what he was doing.

"Thank you," she said as he worked. "Beside Otaku-sama and myself, everyone else make it out okay?"

"Hai, nothing life threatening."

He'd had no wounds at all, to his shame.

"Your courage, and those of all who stood on the front line, carried the day."
