Game On (D3 LE - VERY OPEN)

by Soshi Bantu
Soshi Bantu had spent the latter part of the dinner party setting up tables and cushions into a pleasing configuration for the following games night that he hoped would be mildly successful.

He anticipated most of the dinner guests to retire but hoped a few would stick around to either learn something new or indulge in a past-time they already enjoyed. He laid out his own go set on one of the tables, happy to show anyone who wished how the game was played, or equally to step away if a pair wished to play together.

He hoped that Yukarin would bring her dice for a game, and the Scorpion had seemed mildly interested in the premise, but this was his first real social foray in society and he was very nervous about its perception as a success or failure.

Khulun arrives after a busy day at this dinner and music feast the no-name Mantis was bragging about. She is a wearing a fine fur lined hat and coat over loose fitting top and jerkins with stiff leather boots. There was a Matsu she was hoping to find having heard such good things about the family it was time to see one of their number face to face.

She hoped he was as enjoyable as the Shimizu.

Another Unicorn followed in shortly after, interested in learning more about Rokugani culture. He wouldn't be able to commit all the things he was experiencing to memory but getting as much exposure as possible would still help a lot. Noticing the Moto he approached, holding a pair of skins that she would recognize as typical of kumis.

"Khulun," he says with a smirk, holding one out for her. "Feel free to share with whoever."

A very young looking Unicorn stepped up to the table. "What is this game?" he asked Bantu, poking at the white and black stones. "Is it like backgammon? Where's the dice?"

Udo decided to show up to the game evening and see if he could learn a bit more about Go from the Scorpion. Upon arriving, he saw he was one of the first. As he approached, he heard...

"The game is called Go. I only have a rudimentary understanding myself, but perhaps Soshi-sama would be willing to guide us through a game? If you are interested in learning."

Someone very noticeable had not been at the dinner, but now made her way to the gaming event. Doji Fukawa wore a kimono of a darker shade of Crane blue, with a small silver trim that if one looked hard they could make out as tiny horses running after one another. Were a Moto to run up and sniff her again, they would probably notice that in addition to her perfume, that she had probably been most recently riding.

She looked about to see if she could spot the host. She had not yet met Soshi Bantu, but as there was only one man in red and black, beset by Unicorn and Dragon hovering over a game board, she was relatively certain she had him picked out.

She takes a healthy drink and says, "Thank you. I wonder what games they will show us?"

"I tried Go last evening. It was difficult. Strategy games are a bit over my head. Hopefully there are some that require more coordination or luck. That's where the most fun is," he says with a smile.

“I will cheer you on, cousin, I don’t have a head for such games. I prefer to punch my enemies not out think them,” she says with a laugh.

"I prefer to ride circles around them and turn them into a quiver... have them hold all my arrows for me," he replies with a smirk.

With dinner winding down, and game night starting up, Yuzuki decided to add to the mood of the evening with some background music provided by herself and a samisen. She wasn't any good with games anyway, so her musical talents, relatively raw as they still were, seemed a better use of the time.

She kept it fairly lowkey, avoiding anything that might draw too much attention to her instead of the Soshi and his games.

"Remind me to never hold your arrows, Monkhbaatar," she says with a laugh.

She gestures to Yuzuki, "Have you met Mantis? They have no-name but seem strong for small clan."

Nintoku hated the night because night implied sleeping. He hated closing his eyes and being transported to fields strewrn with the gore of fallen enemies, forcing him to waddle through knee-deep blood as he relives every scar he has received. It always end in the same place, waking up in a pool of sweat, his respiration accelerated and his heart pounding as fast and strong as possible demanding to escape that horrible reality.

Seeing as he wasn't going to sleep any time soon he made his way towards the only event he knew was gonna be ongoing. He had considered wandering alone through the fields, hoping the solitude would bring him some peace of mind but he did not wish to be the subject of gossip. He looked as usual with the heavy bags under his eyes being the only difference in him.

He eyed around in silence. It wasn't his usual setting but it sure beat waddling through a blood moor.

Shiba Kaizen stayed late hoping to see what would be offered in the way of games. He was not all that much into games, though he had heard they were good exercise for thought. He knew the general concept behind Go, after all who didn't though he was certainly no player. He heard the samisen playing and noted the Mantis deftly wielding the instrument. His own was strapped to his back and he considered joining in the music perhaps at a later time. Hearing the Unicorn joke among themselves he smiled as he passed it reminded him of the little Crab humor he had heard at the Topaz Championship.

The Lion is greeted with a warm of her hand to join her and her cousin, this was a matchmaking thing and she would make sure all the eligible bachelors knew she was on the hunt. The arrival of the Dragon did not go unnoticed as well and he was given a smile and a nod but he seemed otherwise preoccupied.

She held out the skin of kumis for the Lion if he so chose to join them.
