Dark Edge Village

Tomonaga awoke slowly, his eyes fluttering awake to focus on the ceiling above him. The nicely distant ceiling. So much more comfortable than a tent. He breathed easily in and out, his bare chest rising and falling under the fur blanket. That had taken a bit of getting used to. But he'd gotten used to that, just as he'd gotten used to everything else about the Unicorn. Including the Unicorn themselves. In fact, he was growing rather fond of them.

Especially one in particular.

Tomonaga rolled over, propping himself up on his elbow, as that brought that particular Unicorn to mind...

Iuchi Yukarin lay there asleep, hair loose and her head on a down filled pillow; Her head faced him and she breathed lightly through parted lips, bare shoulders peeking out of the blankets.

Tomonaga couldn't help but smile. Of course he couldn't. It was hard enough for him to stop smiling even when he wasn't waking up next to her. Or when they were in different places. But now...

Gently, Tomonaga reached out, brushing back a strand of her hair that had fallen down across her face. He made his own breathing soft, trying not to wake her, content to just lie there with her until she woke.

Yukarin stirred a little bit as the hair caught on her nose slightly, tickling it. Shifting, she gave a yawn without opening her eyes, rolling a bit in the blankets and ending up a little closer, still on her front.

Tomonaga's shoulders shook as he silently laughed. Perhaps it was the newness of all of this that made her little mannerisms seem so adorable to him. He didn't think so, though.

When she moved closer, though, his breath caught. Carefully, he slid his arm around her sleeping form, snuggling her against his bare muscular chest. He was no bushi, but he had an impressively athletic build, with broad shoulders and lean but solid musculature.

Forehead against him Yukarin snuggled in, breath hitting his skin lightly.

A minute later, a voice drifted up, quiet and muffled by their bodies, "...good morning."

Nothing more, nothing less; It was quiet enough it almost could have been mistaken for something else if he hadn't been able to feel the words on his skin.

Again, Tomonaga chuckled, his chest bouncing a little. "Good morning." He murmured, not quite as quietly, his voice rumbling deep in his chest.

"You awake? Or you wanna stay there a bit longer? Of course, the one doesn't mean you can't do the other." He closed his eyes before leaning down to kiss the top of her head, inhaling the scent of her hair as he did so.

"Nuh uh. Not awake. Gotta be dreaming."

Still no movement in response though, just staying hunkered against him.

"Okay, that's fine." Tomonaga said softly, his tone amused.

He let the fingers of his hand stroke down the bare skin of her back, tracing her shape. He let his own breath out slowly, shuddering. "I hope it's a good dream." He murmured.

"Mmm... not bad. I don't remember ever having had a dream before where I was so tired..."

Hmmm... that finger touching her spine tickled almost.

"That is a funny dream." Tomonaga murmured agreeably. "Although, I suppose it does kinda make sense. It was a late night. No wonder you're dreaming about being tired."

His fingers continued to dance around her back, making little circles around her vertebrae as they moved up and down. It was a gentle, almost feathery touch.

"That would make more sense if I had woken up... oh."

After a short pause he would feel a kiss at his collarbone.

"Good morning."

Once more, it was only Yukarin's head resting against his chest that kept Tomonaga from laughing. He still chuckled softly as she apparently made the final logical leap.

Tomonaga's eyes closed for a moment at the feel of her lips on his collarbone. He leaned his head back a little, so that if she looked up, he could look into her eyes. "Good morning. For real this time." His fingers stroked along her spine another time. "How do you feel?"

"Well... I did already say I was tired..." she looks up at Tomonaga's face, "But also warm... and happy. Mf; And a bit hungry."

"Mmmm." Tomonaga's eyes lit up. He leaned forward to kiss her, lingeringly. Breaking, he sighed. "Well, now I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm also warm and happy. But... hmmm. Stay right there."

After one last squeeze, he stood; until he wrapped something around his waist, for a moment he was displaying rather more than just his athletic physique. He paused for a moment, to tuck the blanket in around Yukarin, keeping her warm in his absence. "Tea as well? I have some rice. And some jerky, actually. I'm getting used to Unicorn food." He busied himself with gathering up the breakfast things.
